Going to university was a huge dream of mine since I was old enough to think straight. I've always said to my family that one day I would become the greatest lawyer this world has ever seen. My parents have always showed me great support in what I wanted to be growing up, even if it was something that would take a while to achieve but here I am now, entering law school. I've always knew this day would come , where I would feel butterflies in my stomach just by looking at a concrete building. Who knew something so plain as a building could get me this excited? Of course, this plain building as I like to call it, would give me a future and if I did things right, I would live an amazing and adventurous life.

As I walked down the street, I noticed how everything felt so homey. The campus was beautifully decorated and garnished with tall trees along the road. Students walked by with smiles painted across their faces as if they had no care at all and they seemed at ease, which made me happy to think that I was one of them now.  A wave of excitement rushed through my body and I felt my senses come alive. The feeling I felt  at this very moment, made every thing feel even more real. I stood there while taking in all my surrounding and the next thing I knew, I was thrown full force, my body colliding with the ground. A cry emerged from the back of my throat as I looked up to see what created the impact. My eyes settled on a woman who was crouched in front of me with a worried look on her face and under all that concern, I couldn't help but to notice her gorgeous looks. She had glistening brown skin and long black braids that were tied up in a bun with the help of a red scarf. The sun rays hit her eyes making their amber colour seem to light up. As she frowned in confusion, I opened my mouth but no sound came out. She noticed my failed attempt to speak so she softly spoke instead.

"Are you okay? I am so sorry ! I was late for my class and I didn't see you standing there." She held out her hand to help me get back on my feet.

I hesitated for a slight second before reaching the hand she offered me. Her skin was warm and felt as soft as velvet against my scratched up hand due to the fall. I brushed my pants and looked up to meet her gaze. She smiled warmly.

"Oh don't worry, I was in the way. If someone here needs to apologize, it has to be me." I shyly responded. The woman shrugged and smiled, clearly not bothered by any of it.

"No problem here, it's still an interesting way of meeting new people, it's different." She chuckled. She paused for a brief second." I'm Hope by the way."

"I'm Victoria, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you Victoria, you must be new here , am I right?" she asked politely.

Was it THAT obvious?

I slightly nodded to her question " —Um yea.. I am a freshman." I quickly added.

"That's amazing! Welcome. Its always nice to see fresh faces around campus since it's my final year, I don't get to see new people as much." she pressed on as she folded her arms across her chest. She subtly glanced at me.

"Want me to show you around?" she finally added.

"Weren't you late for class just now?"

Her eyes widen. "Oh, right. Too late to go now so we might as well walk around campus, right?"

I quickly nodded and Hope pulled my arm and off we went. She showed me around the vast area while giving me tips and tricks on how to survive my first year of university. Hopes' bubbly personality was refreshing and I could see us being friends, it made her a great person to have around. Hope excitedly pointed to a large brick-built building .It looked older than the other buildings we came across previously but it looked cozy and welcoming, a place I knew I would love.
