(ig this takes place before all the shit in the movie happens so rat man still lives in the walls.)

Well. This is it. You took a deep breath.
You had been, well, adopted into this family when you were little. Your family had died in a fire when you were three. The Madrigal Family took you under their kind wing, but you left when you were old enough so you could pursue your dreams of photography. You did get a gift like the rest of the family, but your career didn't work out too well.. Well. You're back to ask the family to take you in again. Hope it goes well..

You knock on the door. A couple tense seconds pass, and then you can hear the door opening.. It's Alma. You both pause for a second before you pull her in for a hug. "Y/N!! It's so good to see you! Come inside, we were all just about to eat." She leads you inside and to the dining table.
Wow. The family has really grown these ~twenty years. Everyone sits down and someone pulls up a chair for you. You introduce yourself to all the new relatives and everyone talks for a while. The food is delicious! But then you realize, something's wrong.
Someone is missing?
...
BRUNO! He's not here, and nobody's said a word about him. You decide to wait a while in-case he does show up, seeing as with all those stairs in his room it must take a while to get back down..

But he never does. The meal is over and nobody has said a word about him. You're starting to get slightly worried. Eveyone starts heading back to their room, you stop Alma to talk to her. "..Where's Bruno? I haven't seen him at all.." You ask. But she stops smiling and places a hand on your shoulder. "We don't talk about him. He left. Now, you seem tired, let me take you to your room." She walks you up to your room and shuts the door behind you. Compared to the others, your room is relatively normal. If covered in dust is considered normal, that is. You walk over to your dusty bed and shake out the bedding, making the bed. You sit down on the bed and think for a minute. He left? Why? Surely someone knows why. You miss him.
And you want to find out.

As you start drifting off to sleep, a light knock on your door jumps you awake. You get up with a groan and open the door. It's Dolores. She invites herself inside and closes the door quietly behind her. "I heard you talking with Abuela about Bruno.."
You sit back down on your bed and raise an eyebrow. "Yeah? Your point?"
She sits down next to you. "I have a secret to tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone. It's hard enough for me to keep the secret myself.." She whispers. "I promise." You said, holding up a hand. "..Bruno never left." Dolores whispers. Huh? He never left? "What do you mean?" You ask her. "He's in the WALLS." Dolores whispers. Is she okay? "I'm not crazy, trust me. I can hear him mumbling sometimes.." She whispers. "Are you sure that's not just the rats?" You ask, weirded out. "Yes, I-- See! THERE!" She stands up and puts her ear against the wall, even though you hadn't heard anything..

She knocks on the wall, her ear still up against it. "I heard him. Come on, quick. I'll show you where he hides, but I'm not coming with."
Is this a trap?
Dolores quietly leads you out to a picture in the hall, and lifts it off quietly. There's a hole in the wall!! "Don't tell anyone I told you." She places a finger to her mouth with a shhh sound, and walks back to her room.
Slightly creeped out, you crawl through the hole and start walking through the cobwebs. You can hear mice scuttering around and squeaking, ew. The floorboards creek quietly under your feet, and the eerie silence starts getting to you. You pass by a couple holes in the floor, before being stopped by a big one. You peer down, and it looks like a very big drop, too dark to see the bottom. You carefully place your foot on a creaky floorboard sticking out the wall, and slowly step onto it, pushing your body against the wall. Your breathing gets faster as you grow anxious hoping you don't fall.. You slowly and carefully slide across the wall, and manage to make it to the other side with a relieving sigh.

You dust off your clothes and continue on your way. Soon, you make it to a door. You take a deep breath, afraid of what might be behind it. You place your hand on the rusty doorknob, turn it, and slowly creak open the door. You look around the room. Nobody's there. You take a sigh of relief, and enter the room. You look around. There are rats scuttering around, a plate of old food, and a dusty chair. There's a wooden table and chair slid against the wall. You look closer - there's a pretty-looking plate and silverware painted onto the wooden table. The name "Bruno" painted onto the plate, as if it belongs to him. You see a glint of light peering out of the wall. You slowly lean forward and look out the crack in the wall. The dining table. You're looking at the dining table? Your face grows a sad expression.
"Hey."
You jump and spin around. "Wha-?!"
It's.. Bruno?! He's really here? "Where did you come from?!" You shout. He places his hand over your mouth. "Shhh!" It's been so long since you've seen him. You blush from the physical interaction. You grab his wrist and take his hand off of you. "Bruno?! It's been so long!" You smile, trying not to cry. He stares at you with a sad expression. A few seconds pass before you pull him in for a hug. He gasps, and hugs you back.
