Brock sighed as he reached his destination, Pallet Town. He made his way through the small town toward a certain white house. As he reached the pretty house which, seemed a little unkept he knocked on the door. To no one's surprise the door didn't open. Brock tried a couple more times before giving up knowing he won't get any other outcome.
He didn't give up entirely though as he made his way to the largest building in town which had a large windmill on top of it. When he reached the laboratory, he knocked on the door and after a minute wait the door was opened by a tall man with green hair. "Tracy, good to see you is Gary around." Yup he's hanging out with the old man. "Ah, is he doing any better?" Tracy looked down slightly sad. "His age is definitely getting to him. His memories are starting to get a little fuzzy." Tracy said. "Let me go get Gary for you."
It was a sad day 3 years ago when the Greatest Professor in history announced his retirement and that he was giving up his Lab to his grandson Gary Oaks. He had been very hurt when one of his close friends had unfortunately passed.
Brock made his way into the laboratory and made his way to a small table in the corner and sat down. He looked up when he heard footsteps approaching. "Ah, Brock what brings you here today." Brock smiled as he stood up. He was amazed at just how much Gary had matured from being a snobby rich boy to a considerate young man. "Well Gary I'm getting Married." Brock told the young scientist. "That's amazing Brock, but I doubt that's the only reason you came to see me, no offense.
"Well Gary, there is this one person that I'm dead set on being my best man, and I need your help finding him." Brock explained. "Ahh, Ash." Gary sighed. "Well, I doubt he would be in the mood to see you." Brock sighed. "That's understandable." Brock looked down before looking up again. "But could you help me." Gary smiled as he looked at Brock. "I'll see what I can do, but it'll be hard." Brock suddenly had an idea. "Can't you ask the league given his position?" Brock asked. "Didn't you hear? Ash lost the title 4 months after he gained it due to him not showing up to a challenge." Gary explained. "What? That doesn't sound anything like Ash. Who got the title?" Brock asked. "The challenger, Barry." Gary told him laughing slightly. "He somehow beat all of the elite four out of pure luck, if you ask me, they were still recovering from when Ash destroyed them. Anyway, he became champion of Sinnoh and not even three days later Cynthia challenged and destroyed him 6-1." Gary finished.
Flashback
Four years ago, Ash Ketchum beat the man known as Tobias in the semi-finals of the Sinnoh League. It was a heated battle that came down to the wire. Ash took down Tobias's Darkrai, which had not been defeated until that point, with three of his pokemon. After that Tobias revealed a second Legendary known as Latios. It took a lot of willpower and strategy from Ash but he somehow managed to take it down with his last pokemon, Pikachu. He then cleared all of Tobias's remaining pokemon with just Pikachu, winning the match. He went on to win in the finals, shocking the stadium. Just like that Ash was going to challenge the elite four.
Nobody expected him to win, nobody expected him to beat the first member. So, imagine everybody's shock when he beat Cynthia and was the new champion of Sinnoh. Unfortunately for Ash none of his friends showed up to the match, in fact they didn't find out he had claimed the title until four months later. The reason they didn't make it was because a certain brunette was battling for the number one spot in the Wallace Cup. He made sure to congratulate his friend for his victory, via pokedex before he fought his match. But there was one positive occurrence for Ash, the woman who had raised him and loved him for all of his life was there to watch him fulfill his dream on that day.
Ash was living his best life for 2 months even though his friends had slowly drifted away. Unfortunately, a hero's life can never be happy as two months after Ash claimed his title, he was in his office doing paperwork when he learned that his mother had died in an accident. Ash rushed back to Kanto as fast as he could and mourned the death of his mother. The entirety of Pallet was at the funeral. None of his friends showed up but this was expected because none of the world knew of the death.
