When we first met...
———————————————

I can't do this anymore. It's too much for me to handle.

I stood on the edge of the roof, looking out over the city that is lit up by thousands of lights, polluting the air and hiding the stars away. The building I stood upon is very high up, I would surely die if I were to fall from here. Suddenly an impulsive urge to jump came over me. Intrusive thoughts consumed my mind more and more and more as time continued to progress.

Just one small step forward... and it would all be over. Every overwhelming stressful event in my life would never occur again. I would be free. Who would even miss me? My friends and family all died in the accident... I'm all alone in this world. I no longer see a purpose in living, and maybe if I just take that one small step...I could be able to see all of them again...I could feel loved once more. But here... in the living world, there isn't a single soul that could give two shits about whether I live or die, so what's the point? If there really is a God... he made a mistake by sparing my life.

Turning my head slightly to the left I noticed a strange figure, standing on the same building as I am, but down further. This figure seemed to notice me as well, and it begun moving in my direction. Any person in their right mind would have turned and run away, right? Well seeing as I am standing on the edge of a building, 50 stories high, I'm not exactly in my "right mind" at this time. So, I remained in my place on the roof, and watched as the figure came closer and closer.

It was now close enough for me to make out some of its features. The approaching figure is a tall, thin male, maybe 5'9" or 5'10". He is just slightly taller than me; I am a little under 5'7". He has long, dark brown hair that just barely reveals part of his handsomely dark eyes.

He's really good looking, too good looking to be seen with someone like me.

The handsome man seems to be fairly young, maybe in his early 20's, so around my age. Once he is able to see me he begins to slow his pace before coming to a stop right in front of me. Even though our height difference is seemingly not much at all, he still has to tilt his head downwards, just slightly, to look me in my eyes. Neither of us spoke a word; we only stood there on the rooftop, and continued to observe each other for a few moments.

I wonder what his thoughts of me are. He seems like he comes from a wealthy family, and knowing I am not the best looking I probably don't come close to meeting his standards. Wait a minute... why do I even care. He's interrupting my business that I have here on this rooftop. Why am I suddenly feeling insecure about my appearance? How lame.

I could sense his intense gaze while he continued scanning my figure, those beautiful eyes moving up and down my body before coming to a halt when met with my own. I didn't realize that I was staring at him until I noticed a slight smirk tug at the corner of his lips. Turning my face away to conceal the hue of red forming on my cheeks, I looked out at the city once more.

What a beautiful sight...

My thoughts were interrupted by the shifting of his figure. The young man also turned to face towards the city lights spread out before us. It truly was an amazing sight to see. A chill crawled over my body and a strange sensation flooded over me as the man leaned his head down to where mine was.

"Zhong Chen Le." He said in a hushed voice. "And you?"

  "And you?"
