High Tide: A Pirate Choose Your Own Adventure Story [Project Just Started]

1- Introduction: On the Waves

The rain hammered against the wooden ship, The vessel was tossed around like a toy in the waves, yet Captain Gull did not budge. The pirate had to finish the job or go down with his ship. His target: a trade boat, full of goods, belonging to a lifelong enemy of his: the nation of Kuldabar. He held on tight to the wheel, not daring to loosen his grip. But even if he didn't lose control, that wouldn't be his main problem. It was the balance of nature, the fate of life and death itself that would decide whether he would perish or live to see another day... 

CRACK! A lightning bolt hit the water near the ship. The captains' ears were ringing with the sound, but the enemy boat was in sight. Squinting through the fog, Gull called out to his crew. "GET OUT YER WEAPONS!" he yelled above the sounds of the storm, "AND GET READY TO BOARD!" 

The stormy force of the ocean drew the 2 ships closer together until they were almost touching. It was a little too close. The captain tried to steer away, but the wind had blown his sails to tatters. He could only watch in horror as a final wave threw the two vessels against each other in a hash collision. The force of the impact threw Gull, the most notorious pirate on the seven seas, back into the mast like he was a baby. His vision was blurring as the ship tipped and he fell overboard into the icy sea, crates, food, rats, treasure, men, and all washing out into the sea screaming, through cracks in the hull. 

His last memory of the moment was the sea surrounding him. And then all was black.
