𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄. That seemed to be the best way to describe Victoria Greengrass' life of late. Or more accurately, the best way to describe her entire life.
Eldest child of the Greengrass family, one of the Sacred Twenty - Eight, the girl had a weight put upon her from birth: to uphold the family honour. The Greengrasses weren't as revered as the Malfoy's or the Black's ── they had to scramble to earn their respect, to fight tooth and nail for it. And Victoria was expected to do just that.
1980. The height of the first wizarding war. Muggles and wizards alike dropping like flies, succumbing to the sheer power that the Dark Lord held. Family after family submitting to his will, though some would resist. The Greengrasses originally fell into the second category. With a young Victoria to care for, and with her mother Penelope two months away from giving birth to her long - awaited younger sister, the family would resist joining the Dark Lord's ranks. However, he didn't take their rejection lightly.
June 28th. Merely three weeks after Victoria's third birthday. The day was like any other for the small family. They'd barely even noticed the full moon hanging high in the night sky, illuminating their house in its pale light, staring down like an omen. A harbinger of the darkness that would soon come across their house.
Fenrir Greyback. They'd heard of him, of his nature. A supporter of Lord Voldemort, more than happy to pay a visit to families that would defy him. The Greengrasses were just another in a long list. How fortuitous for the man that they had a young child at home, the beast targeting her specifically, her screams falling upon deaf ears. Victoria Greengrass' life would be forever changed. No longer a little girl, eagerly counting down the days until she'd be an older sister. She was a werewolf, her parents anticipating the birth of a normal child, wanting to hide the shame surrounding their eldest child.
