I stepped off the bus only to be greeted by the semi quite night.

The sounds of the bus doors closings told me it was pulling away, so i stepped further to keep myself at a safe distance.

I reached up adjusting the strap on my bag as i began to walk up the road, i reached out sliding my hand across the old crumbling Northernstars sign, it had fading graffiti covering every little space, you could hardly tell it was the entrance sign to the trailer park where i lived.

I let my hand drop back to the side as i walked up the entrance split in two was, right, or left, it didn't really matter either way, the place was just a big circle in the end.

I quickly walked across the street choosing the right side so i could get where i needed to go faster.

As i turned the little bend, my eyes landed on all of the trailers as i walked past, almost immediately the dogs started barking at the "intruder" walking down the street at ten pm.

I cant say i blame them its in there nature, but all the noise was making my head hurt, so i started humming softly enough for them to hear.

The quieted down a few whining softly as i walked by, normally i would pet them, i absolutely love animals of all sorts, but i had somewhere to be so i pushed aside the want and continued walking.

I sighed in relief when i saw my target, walking up to the fence i pushed it open and walked up to the door knocking softly on the screen door.

A few seconds went by until i heard the door pull open and an older women with dark hair opened the door.

"Hi Rosie"

Her brown eyes lit up as she smiled at me."Arden your here, that's great Kai just got back and i have a surprise for you" she waved me in so i silently followed behind her as she walked twords the kitchen.

I set down my bag on the table relaxing at the home feeling i always got when i stepped inside here.

"Thanks again for watching Emi for me" Rosie just waved off my thanks like usual and started searching the cabinets.

She had always been like this for as long as i could remember, and that's a long time, after all she was almost like a second mom.

I was best friends with her son Kai feris, me Kai and Sage grew up together almost never separated, we all had our problems, you could even say we are complete opposites from each other, but i guess that's what made us all good friends.

My thoughts were interrupted when Rosie waved her hand in my face."Psst Arden, you there kiddo, i have a show to watch!"

I blinked a few times and smiled apologetically at her. "Sorry lost in thought"

"Oh its ok, anyway i made you cookies i know how much you love them, id love to chat, but my show is on and you know where Emi is" she said winking as she slid the big bowl of cookies into my bag and practically ran out of the room to watch her show.

Wow i just got dumped by an old lady for a show, that sucks...i laughed to myself and threw my bag back over my shoulder as i turned to walk out only to crash into something.

Haha something, more like someone...

"Hey" i looked up and smiled at Kai, his short black hair was wet and his brown eyes gleamed with his usual mischief.

He reached out his long tattooed arms to wrap me in a hug causing me to gasp for air, "K-Kai air"

He laughed and let go a smile lighting his face, "sorry Arden" he said reaching over and ruffling my hair. "When are you coming in for your next tattoo though, its been like a whole day since i saw you last"

I just shrugged in response causing him to roll his eyes playfully.

Oh and yes incase your wondering, Kai was a tattoo artist, in high school he had always been the bad boy type, he wasn't extremely buff but don't let that fool you, he was built with muscle, he just honestly wasn't the type to show off or brag.

Kai may have a lot of tattoos, piercings, and an extremely hostile attitude twords others, but to his family or really close friends, he was anything but that, its kinda how all three of us friends are.

We are close, practically family and we dont like people messing with our family, we have all been through enough already, so-

Suddenly i was knocked to the floor causing me to groan out in fake pain as i saw two litte bodies on top of my legs, both seemed to be giggling like crazy at me.

The little one with the head of brown curls peeked up at me her brown eyes wide with happiness, "Den, your here!"

I laughed looked down at Rory, Kai's ten year old little sister "hey Roar, did you have fun today?"

Before she could answer a little voice cut in "oh we had so much fun sissy!"

I looked over at the other mass clutched to my leg, her red curls swayed as she spoke to me her green eyes shining, "Aw Emi thats great" my ten year old sister smiled up at me as she let my leg go.

"Ok, ok thats enough" Kai said walking over to pull Rory from my leg, tickling her to let go, causing her to squirm and laugh in his arms as i stood up.

I felt a small hand slip into mine causing me to look down Emi's smile was still there but i could tell she knew it was time to go back.

"Well we have to go now you guys, we'll see you tomorrow of course" Kai just nodded still holding a struggling Rory in his arms, "bye Roar see you at school" Emi said as we walked out hearing Rory's yell back in the process.

I walked with Emi out side pushing the gate back open then closing it behind us.

"Do you think he will be home tonight" i heard Emi whisper next to me.

I held her hand a little tighter "if he is, you know i will never let him hurt you" i pointed down to her neck "do you remember what i said?"

I watched as she pulled her necklace out from under her shirt "ill always remember im loved and protected as long as i have this necklace to remind me if i forget, plus its just like yours"

I nodded smiling down at her as she tucked the necklace away, it was a simple star design but it was made out of pure ruby, to provide protection and to remind her that she was loved no matter what.

I had one just like it, our mom gave it to me a few weeks before she had Emi, mine was also make of pure ruby, both where very special necklaces mine was made just for me by mom, she would of made Emi's if she could have, so instead i made it, and i know it will keep her safe no matter what.

I looked up at our trailer and smiled when i noticed all the lights were off, meaning he hadn't come home yet.

The day was finally catching up with me as soon as i put everything away and got Emi in bed she fell asleep, so i did the natural thing anyone would do, and fell asleep right next to her.
