Lily pulled on some dark blue jeans with a black and white stripped shirt. She rolled on her black ankle socks and slipped on her white converse shoes. Lily liked to dress with the day, today was a grey kind of day. Where the skies aren't a vibrant blue and the cloud weren't white as the winter snow. The skies were covered by the dark grey clouds , parts of the clouds were so dark they almost looked black. It was quite fine in the morning , the skies were a bit cloudy but it seemed like it might rain later on throughout the day . She pulled on her jacket and looked at herself in the mirror inside her bathroom. She tapped her grown out nails on the cold bathroom counter and looked down at the corner were her makeup sat. She grabbed some eye shadow and swiped a light shimmer on her eye lids , giving them a natural glow . She brightened up her face up more with light makeup and lastly added her cherry Chapstick. She walked into her room and yelped in surprise. Patrick was looking through her small record collection , he slightly turned and glanced back at her for a second.
"What are you doing in here?" she asked, fiddling with her hands , kind of nervous about him being in her room. " took too long . . . " was all he said as he shifted through her records, he found one song, the cover having a red heart sticker in the corner, he took the record out and placed the vinyl on the record player.
The needled dropped and 'paint it, black' by The Rolling Stone started playing. Patrick watched the vinyl spin until he got bored and sat down on her bed , her mattress was soft and comfortable. he could tell way she sleeps so comfortably, so deeply. She was a internally nervous wreak, she didn't know what to do or say.
" this is my favorite song" she said , lazily waving a finger to the record player before bringing it back to her side.
" its 1991, why do you still have a record player" Patrick said as he picked up a stuffed cat , he turned the stuffed animal towards lily and used his fingers to move the head of the cat side to side.
" yeah lily, why do you still have one?" Patrick said in a high--pitched voice as if the cat is talking. lily cracked a smile.
" record players are timeless , I've had since I was a little kid. My dad would came back from the record store and give me the records. Years beyond now, I hope I still have it. Because every time i play a certain song , I'll think back to now and then" she said tapping the nose of the cat Patrick was holding , she took the cat from Patrick and ran her fingers against its slightly matted fur, from being cuddled and carried after all these years.
" je-sus, that was deep" Patrick said slumping his shoulders , Patrick patted his knees and stood up from her bed
" you ready?" he asked , she nodded and placed the stuffed animals back down on her bed. She followed Patrick out the house , trusting him to know where to go. The rabbit foot keychain was on one of her belt loops on her jeans. bouncing with every big step.
