"So what exactly are you gonna be showing me?" His feet moved faster and I almost had to jog to keep up.

"You'll see." When he stopped I nearly ran into him. "Here we are."

He gestured toward a beautiful glass case with a base covered with glittering gems. "What is it?" I walked closer to get a better look.

"It's Goldar..." He looked at me to see what my reaction would be.

"Wait, so Goldar's a sword?" I raised an eyebrow and put my hands on my hips.

His gaze fell on the sword in the case. "He used to be a human, but he's been like this for thousands of years. Nobody knows why he became a sword or how, but now that you're here and you're able to communicate with Goldar...there might be a way to free him and find out."

'Goldar, are you really that old?' I hoped that Goldar wouldn't be offended by me asking this.

'I am that old, but I still look exactly the same. Nothing has changed about me, I've just been asleep until recently.' He laughs a little bit at the beginning.

"Um,...Dad?" I scratch my head.

"Yes?"

"Has anyone tried to free him yet?"

"Even the most powerful dragons have. Fairies have tried as well. I still have no idea how you can communicate with him though." He stares off into space.

"I'd really like to know that too..." My eyes look at the blood red handle of the sword.

"When do you have school?" His hands go behind his back.

I look at a sundial and panic. "Shit! If I don't hurry then I'll be late!"

"Don't worry, I'll send you there." My father smiles at me and lifts up his hand, a portal swirling next to me. "Walk through there and you'll be there."

I turn to face him. " Thanks, I'll be back soon." My arms wrap around his torso before I go through the portal.

"The portal will stay open for you..." His voice fades away as I hurry off to school before the bell rings.

When I get to school, I rush into my first class. Just as I sit down, the bell rings and I let out a huge sigh of relief. A hand rested on my shoulder and I turned around to see Daniel. Goldar's words filled my mind.

'Don't trust him, Ambrissa,...his smile is fake.' Daniel glanced at the teacher quick before smiling back at me.

'Don't worry, I'm watching his every move...' I forced a smile, something that I was extremely good at now.

"Your family doesn't seem as bad as you made them seem." He said just barely above a whisper so that nobody else would hear.

"Yeah,...sorry about them. I didn't think that they would end up reacting like that." A small laugh came from me.

"Why were you almost late for class?" Now I had to figure out some sort of lie.

'You were spending time with Mikal.' Goldar told me a great excuse.

"Mikal really wanted me to spend time with him this morning, and I lost track of time." Hopefully Daniel would buy it.

"He's a nice kid." Something flashed in his eyes and I almost thought about trusting him again.

'He's already changing...' Goldar sounded worried and then I snapped out of it.

"Yep, he sure is." I laughed and sat up when the teacher went to the front of the room.
