They were close to home . Everyone were waiting for them and beside her father there was a pregnant girl who seemed wracked with grief. Oh my god, Nancy thought as she ran towards her. She was Edward's fiancée, he had introduced her to Nancy just five months ago. "oh Emily I can't believe that he's gone.
Emily was crying " I'm sorry, I'm pregnant we didn't have time to tell you together ... "and she started sobbing.
The whole village attended his funeral. They were all frantic. For the village it was someone's first funeral who died in war. The sky was gray and ugly just like the second world war, big raindrops began to fall mingling with Nancy's tears. People listened compassionately to the father's speech not noticing the rain that wet their black clothes. Edward was a good person, he had never  displayed of his wealth nor had he ever felt superior to his economic condition. The whole village had always spoken well of it.

When Saduni came out of the library, Tom was in front of the cafeteria and he didn't believe she would have reached up.
Saduni walked towards him and felt her heart beat faster and faster. She went back to her memories of her dreams, but this time she was sure she was awake. Tom's heart also quickened his
heartbeat as he watched her arrive, but he didn't care.
"Hellow "
They drank coffee and chatted. Outside, meanwhile, the first snowflakes began to fall. Saduni
she had never seen snow and when they came out of the cafeteria she was mesmerized by it.
Tom noticed the amazement of the girl and said "Oh, you're not from here." "Yeah, i came two months ago "she replied. "And how come you speak English so well?" He asked her, but quickly regretted it realizing that perhaps it was an inappropriate question. "Well, maybe because from 1796 to 1948 your people ruled over us and there
your influence is still felt, "she replied. Tom was silent, embarrassed and almost afraid to ask other questions.
"You asked me to come out, but I still don't understand why?" Saduni said she had no time to waste. "Um, speaking of that, I'm a writer looking for ideas and I'd like to hear your story to write my next book, "
he said in one breath because he wasn't
ready to take NO for an answer. Saduni was silent for a few minutes, then said "Ill tell you about my dreams, they are quite strange and interesting, a great starting point for a story. I do not believe
it's a good idea to write about me. "
She promised him that they would meet again the next day and she went straight home, where her father was ready to
give her a long speech. Saduni was confused; she knew that life in Britain would be very different
from the one in Sri Lanka but perhaps she was not quite ready for those changes. In Sri Lanka it wouldn't be like this.she couldnt go out alone, she couldn't come back late, express her opinion out loud all this because in sri lankan culture a women was always teached to be humble and under controlled . And now, instead, she would go to live alone, it was one of her bucket list to live alon beacuse she wanted to show she could do it alone. But when it lwas coming true she couldn't belive it . And she changed her mind that not all sri lankans think the same
She called Tom on the number on the business card and told him they wouldn't see each other the next day because
she had to transfer. A veil of sadness fell on Tom's face and he was grateful she couldn't see him tru the phone
he didn't want to hear her dreams, he wanted to see her again. he couldn't stop thinking the instant their eyes first met. Those brown eyes of hers they remembered him bee honey, those pink lips of hers and those cheeks flushed with cold. he couldn't wait another week
to see her again. he didn't know what his fate was
he dares to believe because he was already in love with her. He wanted to ask her to show him her new home.he thought to help her with transport
but then he thought it would have seemed strange and out of place. That night he couldn't sleep, he kept on
thinking of Saduni.
