Ready or not...

I had my doctor's appointment the following day and I got the results the day after stating that I am six weeks pregnant. I spiraled down and stayed in bed. Time felt like it stopped. I felt numb. I couldn't stop thinking about what Rai said 'a soul for a soul' what the fuck does he mean?

It's a warm but cloudy day and I know I need to get up and do something. I forced myself to get out of bed and take a shower, and I did. I brushed my teeth after getting dressed and then headed downstairs to the kitchen.

"Hey, sweetheart." Dad said.

"Hey, dad." I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle before I hopped up the kitchen counter to sit.

"How are you feeling?" he asked as he started cutting up veggies.

"I feel okay, I guess." I smiled, "Where's Chris?" I asked.

"Last time I saw him he was on his way to the backyard." Dad answered. I jumped off the kitchen island and made my way in the backyard.

"Babe?" I called out.

"Pool side, baby." he answered and I made my way to him. He got up as soon as he saw me and met me halfway and hugged me. "Hey, are you feeling better today?" he smiled and I nodded. "Come join me?" He led me to the oversized sunbed that dad purchased a few weeks ago.

"What are you reading?" I saw a book as I sat down.

"Some grimoire I found in the library. I was hoping I'll be able to find something to help get Sebastian back here." he smiled and I started to tear up. He reached for my face and kissed me.

"Thank you." I said as we pulled away from each other.

"For what?" he chuckled.

"For not giving up on me when I have my silly depressive episodes." he gestured for me to lay down and rest my head on his lap.

"It's my duty to take care of you."

"Do you want us to be official?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

He put the grimoire he was reading down and helped me sit up, "What do you mean?"

"You know, us being husband and wife?" I bowed my head.

"Sage?" He lifted my chin up and tucked my hair behind my ears.

"I was just thinking, if..." I took a deep, shaky breath in and exhaled, "when our baby is born, I want him or her to have a complete family."

"But we're complete." he raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"I know, but..." he kissed me before I could finish my sentence.

"I'm yours. No matter what, I'm yours." he said, "If having a wedding is something that will ease your mind, then let's do it. I'm only waiting for you to be ready." he kissed me again.

We spent the rest of the afternoon in the backyard reading the grimoire, talking, and laughing. And for that duration, I felt like myself again and no thoughts of Sebastian at all. I felt normal for once.

"So, when are you two planning on doing it?" Amanda asked.

"As soon as possible." I answered quickly.

"What changed your mind?" dad asked me.

"I just thought that it's time to move on, and I see myself with Chris in every future I try to think of." I took a bite of my steak.

"Well then, you guys are in charge of preparations, just let me know how much is needed and I'll transfer funds to your bank." Dad smiled at me.

"Dad, I have savings." I chuckled.
