Cadence sat in the restaurant waiting on her date. It was one of the most Korean thing she has done in a long time, given she moved back to Jamaica three years before. She stared at the other patrons and smiled uncomfortably. She cannot believe that Chante, her best friend since high school, felt the need to set her up on a blind date. But, she knows her best friend was simply trying to help, because it's been three years since she has  been divorced and five since she had felt loved the way one is supposed to feel in a romantic relationship. She was lonely. Chante knew  that.

The two of them had been obsessed with Korean culture since they started watching the dramas as part of a Hallyu culture club in high school. It was before the dramas became a thing on national television and all of Jamaica got hooked on the men's good looks. This obsession with being in the place of her dramas, was what led Cadence on an internship to South Korea, right after university, intended for one year, not knowing how much her life would change forever.

She fiddled with the glass and scanned the restaurant again, looking for her date, which is relatively pointless, since she has no idea what this guy looks like. All Chante provided her was raving reviews on his "super" good looks and  that he has the most depth filled eyes she had ever seen. Cadence was excited. She likes a man with gorgeous eyes. That's what had captivated her about her husband.

She looked up just then to see a well toned man of her honey complexion with low cut hair, a firm jawline and deep set eyes, darkened by long lashes. He was exquisite. He walked straight towards her and she crossed her fingers hoping he is Alex, her blind date.

"Are you Cadence?" A slightly deep voice asked and Cadence opened her eyes, feeling foolish for having closed them in the first place. The good looking guy was staring at her with the kindest expression she has seen on anyone in a long time, and she knew a lot of good people.

"Yes," she said with a nod and more confidence than she was feeling. Nerves rarely ever left her lips. She was always grateful for that.

"Excellent. I'm Alex Asher," he sat while explaining himself, with more grace she had ever seen from a Jamaican man.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Alex".

He smiled at her and she immediately liked him. He had a gentleness about him that was deeply embedded in how he moves. From the way he sat and patiently tried to get the waitress' attention, to the way he actually listened to her listing what was available on the drink menu and the Chef's special.

Within an hour of them talking, she felt as if she had met him before. His aura was so comforting and friendly. He was attentive and an excellent listener, and it slightly scared her. Those were similarities she loved about her ex-husband. She didn't think she had a type, but she'll see what it leads to because she already likes him and he seems interesting enough to want to know more.

Her fist date in three years. She wondered how Tae In Kim will feel about this.
