As he crossed the road, he hummed a song to himself. His ocean-blue eyes sparkled happily, as if he were in his own world. He didn't see the black Audi coming towards him, but I did. Before I knew it, I was on my feet running and shouting to the little boy to get off the road, but he didn't hear me. I didn't notice the tears streaming down my face as they always do in a stressful situation but all I was thinking about was saving the little boy with the ocean blue eyes and hazel hair from being hit by a car. I reached the boy at the right moment and pushed him out of the way so that we both fell to the ground off the road. I made sure he fell down on me not risking him getting hurt. "Are you all right? Does anything hurt? Hands, knees, arms?", I asked the child in a panic. I continued to mumble as I checked his body for injuries. Only when I saw none did I look up at his face. He appeared to be about five or six years old. He had hazel hair and light brown skin. He looked adorable with his button nose and pouty mouth. The boy did not answer, but continued to stare at my dirty face. He was probably scared to death to see a homeless person squatting down and asking him all sorts of questions. "My name is Allura. I'm sorry if I hurt you or anything. Can you tell me your name?", I tried to persuade him to talk to me. "Kairi," he whispered shyly. "Kairi means sea, right? The name suits your beautiful eyes," I murmured to Kairi. I looked around to see if anyone was looking for him or if anyone had noticed what had happened. But no one cared about the little boy and particularly not about me. I turned to Kairi and asked, "Where are your parents or someone who was looking after you?" . He did not answer and decided to keep quiet. I sighed, "I'm just trying to get you home safely, Kairi". Still crouching, I turned him so that he was looking at the busy streets of London. "Do you see them?", I asked in a soft voice so as not to frighten him even more. He turned back to me and shook his head as he looked down. "Okay, that's not a problem, Kairi. Do you like adventures?", I wanted to know. With a cute pout, he looked at me and nodded again. "Wonderful, then let's go on an adventure to find your family. Is your home nearby?", I inquired further. He didn't answer for a while, but I waited in silence. His little face contorted as if he was thinking. After a few more minutes, he said only one word: "Dublin". Good God, he's a wealthy kid. I concluded that he must mean Dublin Street, which is in the richest part of London. Mentally preparing myself for the judgmental looks and comments, I took Kairi's hand and smiled at him with an encouraging look. "Do you want to know something about me?", I received no reply, but I just kept talking so that the long walk would not degenerate into silence. It was then that I realised I had scraped my arms and legs rescuing Kairi and they were bleeding, but fine. It could be worse. I looked down at the little man and began to narrate. "Anyway, I'm 24 years old and my full name is Allura Zadie Hughes. The meaning of those two funny names are strength and princess. So basically I'm a royal person who just saved you, my little knight," earning a small giggle from him. I smiled fondly and continued. "I even like all those noble things like reading, baking or cooking. Do you also like music or sports? I used to play the piano and violin. But my favourite sport? That was and is tennis." I didn't know what to say to him now, so I looked around, just to see where to go now. I pulled him by the hand and led him through Hyde Park. I didn't expect Kairi to reply, but he did, even if it was only a short answer, "I'm Kairi and I'm six years old. I like piano and football". "You see, my little prince, we both like piano. Do you also play football with your father?", I asked again. "With my father, my brother and my brother's best friend," he explained briefly. It must be nice to have a family. I grew up in Dubai with my mother, but I never had a good relationship with her. So when she came back one day with the monster from hell, I had no choice but to accept my fate. When I was eight years old, we moved to the UK to a small, quiet village, but it still didn't change. I had to experience cruel things in my life that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Then my mother died and everything changed. However, that's a story for another time. Right now, the most important thing is to get Kairi home. Silence fell now and I concentrated on leading him home properly. After a thirty-minute walk, we finally reached the street Kairi had mentioned. I stopped and turned to Kairi, asking quietly which house was his home. While I waited, I looked around and, as I expected, everyone on the street gave me an appraising look. I was only snapped out of my trance when Kairi pulled my hand and pointed to a mansion a few houses away. It was very big, but also very beautiful with its white and wooden façade. I turned my attention back to Kairi, squatted down and spoke, "We have successfully completed our adventure, little prince. Let us go and reunite you with your family." I stopped in front of the dark wooden door and rang the bell, still holding Kairi's small hand in mine. We waited a few minutes until the door was hurriedly opened.
