20: Consent

I was in the hospital for some check-up. Group of Wax will stay at the police station for at least 48 hours. Sir Kio just couldn't let them pass. I told him not to meddle to this anymore. Pero boss ko raw siya. Also, I'm his responsibility. I let him handle the situation for me, as long as he won't tell mom, mostly dad about it.

"Let's go?" Aya niya.

Now we're inside of his car, silent as night. I don't know how and what to talk. Should I say thank you to him now? Because really, if he didn't come that time, something worse would happen.

"Uh, thank you, Sir."

"We have something to talk about, but not now, though. Sa room na. And you'll be sleeping with me. I won't let you alone in your room. I'll take the couch so you can have my bed. Bukas pa tayo uuwi."

I slowly nodded and looked outside the window. Remembering what all just happened.

"Don't worry, I told the hotel staffs and cops to keep this confidential."

"Thank you po, ulit."

Sir Kio handed me his coat when we entered the hotel. Nagdadalawang isip pa nga akong sumama sa kwarto niya dahil magkatabi lang naman ang kwarto namin at  wala naman na siguro nang mangyayaring masama. Pero mag uusap daw kami at isa pa, makakapalag ba 'ko pag may sinabi siya? 'Di ba hindi naman? At the end of the argument, panalo pa rin siya. He's just good at that. Well, attorney things.

"Sit here." Then he pulled the chair for me.

Pinatong ko ang dalawang kamay ko sa lamesa at inalis lang noong nilagay na niya 'yung isang baso ng tubig.

He then sat on the opposite chair. Now we're facing each other and I can't tell if he is angry or annoyed. It's his usual face so I can't guess.

"How are you?"

"F-fine." My voice cracked.

"You told me you're gonna sleep, then why the hell are you on the rooftop? Drinking beer?"

Parang may bara sa lalamunan ko. I have no plans to lie, but I don't think he will buy my reasons.

"Nawala 'yung ... antok ko. Then I decided to went to rooftop. You know, uh, fresh air."

"You should have called me. Nasamahan sana kita, hindi 'yung pupunta kang mag isa."

Napayuko na lang tuloy ako sa parangal niya. "But... You were in the party. I shouldn't disturb you because you were enjoy—"

"You think I enjoyed that party? I prefer to be alone with you rather than attending business parties."

And... What did he mean by that?

"Let's not talk about this anymore. I really want to rest now. It's 3 am." Sabi ko sa kan'ya.

"Sir?" Bati ko ulit dahil nakatitig lang siya sa akin.

"S-sir Kio, let's r-rest now." Sabay iwas ko na ng tingin dahil hirap na 'kong makipagtitigan sa kan'ya. He is staring at me intently. Like he's guessing what would I do next.

"Ran?" Pagtawag niya. Patayo na sana ako.

"Yes?"

I don't know if it's just me or he was really looking at my lips.

"Nothing. Let's go rest now."

Tumango ako at tumayo na.

Nasabi niya na sa couch siya matutulog. But I don't think he can sleep on that without having body aches the next morning. Malaki siya masyado para sa couch. Saka, malaki ang kama niya. Apat na ako ata ang kasya doon.
