Overhaul's pov

When Nemoto told me about this girl, I didn't believe him. I had good reason, too. But it threw me off even more when I learned the truth.

Nemoto told me that she had a powerful quirk. But a quick background check and DNA test proved him wrong... In fact, she wasn't just weak, she was quirkless.

So then why did Nemoto tell me she was powerful? He couldn't have lied. I'm almost 100% sure he's incapable of lying. Especially to me.

Maybe he wasn't lying... But that means one of two things, and I like neither.

One, my information was wrong and she really was telling the truth. Or, two, she truly believed she was powerful. She must have believed so much, that it sipped by Nemoto's quirk.

I guess in that case, to her, she wasn't lying. So that must have been enough for Nemoto's, practically a "lie detector," quirk.

all of that aside, I want to know more about her. She seemed so odd when I talked to her. Like she was in trance. The drugs given to her should have worn off by now. So why did she seem so distant?

Was it because she was locked in that basement for so long? according to my research, she would have been locked down there for 12 years...

I Leaned back in my chair, looking around my office. The room was neat and clean. I wouldn't accept it any other way. Apart from the few documents scattered across my desk.

I felt the urge to organize them. I knew they would just be scattered again, but the urge won over. I leaned over and organized the papers while I got lost In thought once again.

Even if that girl was quirkless, That wasn't a bad thing. I would need to run more tests to be sure. Thats why I'm keeping her here. Keeping her alive.

Once I get more information and I can regain peace of mind over this, it will be no longer necessary to keep her alive. But first... I need answers.

I straighten the last of the papers on my desk as I feel somewhat more comfortable in a cleaner space. I've made up my mind and will keep the girl until I find no use for her.

Y/n's pov

I look into the clean mirror. Everything around me was pure white. Everything was clean. Everything, except me. I look at my sunken cheekbones. My glossy and distant eyes. My pale and cold skin. Although I seem to have been recently cleaned, I still looked awful.

My once bright h/c hair, was now a grayish off variant of that. If I didn't know who I was, I wouldn't be able to recognize myself.

There was a strong and vivid picture of myself in my mind. Who I used to be.
Its funny, really.
How being locked away for so many years can make old memories so real in your mind.

Being surrounded with nothing can make such small things seem so big. Something as small as a reflection even.

But now that entire image was being shattered as I looked into this way too clean mirror. I don't even know how long I've been standing here.

It must have been a while because my thoughts were broken by a knock on the door.

"hello? miss l/n, are you in here?" Called a voice form the other side of the door. I recognized it to be Chronostasis.

"um.. Yeah, I'll be out in a sec." I called back.

I turned back to my reflection for a moment. Then I shook my head and went over to the door. I opened it slowly and stepped out to see Chronostasis standing by the door that led to the hall.

"hi" I mumbled in his direction.

He nodded and motioned for me to follow him. I did without question. I was rather good a following directions. Obedience. Thats what mom called it. Well... She's not even my mom... At least that's what overhaul said. But what if he was lying? Why would someone lie like that?

I decided its better not to think about it and focus on where the man in white in front of me is going. He takes a left turn. I follow. Then two doors down a right turn. Then another immediate left. Keeping track of the directions are starting to make me dizzy, so I stop.

After following him through what felt like a maze, we arrived at a door. This door didn't look particularly special in any way. All apart from a small sign next to it with my name on it.

Chronostasis opened the door and motioned for me to go in. I step inside and look around. Its a basic room with a white bed, white wardrobe, grey carpet, white walls with black trims and a door with a black frame on the far wall.

"that's your bathroom." Said the man, pointing to the door

"thanks." I replied.

"stay in here. When you are needed, someone will come and get you. Food will be delivered in a few hours. Everything you need will be right here. If you think you need something else, tell me next time you see me. Don't waste anyone else's time. Understood?" He told me slow and firmly.

I nodded in understanding and watched him close the door behind me and lock it. I turn back to the room. This is certainly an upgrade but... Not something I would call home.

Although who am I to complain? So I sit on the dark grey covers of the white bed and make myself at home.

I look over to the table next to me. A lamp and a small alarm clock sat on top of it. It was 3:47. I decided to take a nap, closing my eyes and drifting off peacefully.
