Maybe humans aren't so bad...

Schlatts POV,

I felt an admirable wave of emotion for the taller man as I finished switching the wraps around my arms for new ones then walking out of the bathroom and back up the stairs with the rough feeling of the dark grape purple carpet against my feet. Getting to the end of the stairs I made a quick turn into my room hesitating to open the door remembering that Wilbur was inside my room and sleeping.

Why?
Why was this stopping me from opening the door?
I had opened it a million times before so why this time?
Was it because Wilbur was in there?

I jerked my head to the side trying to get the stupid thought out of my head.
That can't be the case, right?
I've had dozens of friends over, Wilbur shouldn't be any different hell, he's not even sure if Wilbur is his friend. Once again I shook my head at the thought and opened the door to see Wilbur still up writing in a leather journal.

"Thought you said you were going to sleep"
I shot a smirk at the man on the floor who looked at me for a second before rolling his eyes.
"Yea but sleeping isn't within my form of interest, especially when I'm somewhere as enchanting as this,"
"Don't think 'enchanting' is the word you're going for there bud."
I said crawling into bed and pulling the soft gray covers over me
"Oh? Well then how would you describe this secret world of yours?"
Wilbur shot back at me putting his journal down and snuggling up in his sleeping bag
"One word. Hell. I don't expect any more questions were moving on and going to sleep"
I threw a pillow at him before turning around and dropping my head onto my own pillow, falling asleep, planning to ignore any protests from him. Surprisingly, I heard nothing but the sound of ruffling then silence.

Wilburs POV

That night all I could think about was the man sleeping in the bed next to me, I had never been in this situation. Ever. I mean sure ive had one or two sleepovers but that's nothing compared to the awkwardness that fell over the silent room that night. I thought alot about schlatt that night, his friends two but mainly schlatt. I tried not to think too much about it but that thought kept looping like a record on a record player. I fell asleep that night with his face flashing every few seconds thinking how exactly I got myself into this mess.

(in the morning no one POV)

That morning Wilbur blinked his eyes awake to the smell of food. His head in a somewhat pain as he muttered a soft swear lifting his head from the comfortable position, getting up the brit realized he had nothing to wear forcing him to wear the same t-shirt and boxer shorts as before getting out of his sleeping bag and exiting the room making his way downstairs to the kitchen seeing the ram hybrid working a stove. Schlatt turned amongst hearing the sudden movement of Wilbur pulling out a chair to sit on. Schlatt kept silent for a few more seconds.
"Morning."
He whispered just loud enough to go over the sound of the stove,
"Morning,"
Wilbur yawned, resting his head on the counter, as Schlatt seemed to finish up and grab two plates leading food onto both of them before setting a plate in front of Wilbur and another to the right of him along with forks for both plates. Schlatt walked over to the otherside of the island grabbing a stool and sitting down next to wilbur.

As the two ate, a lingering tension sat like a gas mask atop both faces making it hard to breath forcing Wilbur to break the silence.
"How um- how did you sleep?"
His british accent seemed to thicken
"I slept fine, you?"
"Yep same,"
The brit felt his anxiety coursing through his body
"So what's the first step to getting me back up this hole?"
Figuring this will release some of the tension.
"Well the gate to the ruis only opens up every 6 or so months so your gonna be stuck here for at least that long, so till then you're gonna live with me and we'll help prepare you for the journey back up"
The words shot at wilbur like a gun, 6 MONTHS?! He groaned knowing he'd just have to face it  and wait for his opportunity to go home, well- his real home, Wilbur thought, realizing that till then this was basically his home.
"Ok, and what would be my first step to get prepared?"
"Well for one your not gonna get back up dressed like that"
Schlatt laughed pointing at the poor choice in clothing the human wore
"Thank you oh so much for stating the obvious, got anything else?"
"Haha, yea im gonna take you to a friend of mine, she owns a local clothing store near the heart of town. She'll get you some stuff."
The ram gave Will a pat on the back resulting in the two sharing eye contact for an extended time.
"Fun! Can't wait to see what this place looks like!"
Wilbur tried to bring back the conversation.
Can't wait.
