"OKAY MEN! I NEED FIVE OF YOU TOO JOIN ME, TO HEAD OUT INTO NO MAN'S LAND AND HELP ME TAKE A RAT BACK WITH US! IF NO ONE VOLUNTEERS I SHALL BE FORCED TOO FORCE YOU TO THE BATTLEFIELD! SO, ANY VOLUNTEERS!?" exclaimed captain Hyce. As the captain waited to see who was willing to join him the smell of sweat filled the air as the soldier's brows became soaked in their bodily fluids through the anxiety coursing inside of them. Just as the captain was preparing to shout again a soldier stepped forward. "What's your name brave soldier?" requested captain Hyce. "Murray sir, Ben Murray, I'm from the wood battalion"
"a wood pigeon? In the city, I respect your guts Murray," stated the captain. "anyones else willing to cross no man's land with me and Murray?" and just like that, as one man stood up 4 more stood up, most likely just feral pigeons not wanting to seem like wimps compared to a wood pigeon. "good choice men, now what may be your names?" one after the other they stated their names, "Jordan Trav" stated one. "Oliver Arwand" stated another. "Justin Trew!" shouted the third. The fourth would not speak for a short while until he gulped and said timidly "Jason…. sir, Jason Farlen"
"we thank you Farlen, not everyone is strong enough to show fear when volunteering, are you sure you're willing to do this?" questioned the captain. It's pigeons like Jason that tell you that not everyone here is raring to go out and fight, this is war after all, not a fun game of paintball. After a short while of waiting the captain spoke softly, most likely not wanting a risk of rats hearing the plan, "OK, atta Boys, we will be leaving at midnight, stay low, no fluttering about, we got news that they received a new letter, so naturally, we find a filthy rat that knows it's contents, take him back with us, willingly or forcefully, it matters not, and get him to tell us the words inside, understood." and so they waited and waited, luck was on our side this time however, no shootouts had taken place today so we didn't need too worry about fresh unexploded bombs in no man's land. Eventually midnight came, captain Hyce and the 5 pigeons who volunteered were getting ready to cross, a few more checks for rats later with zero sight of them they started to cross. Quietly sneaking across, having to be careful not to alert the enemies. Halfway there, three quarters aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, HAZAR! They made it across, a while later they came back but with no rat, alive though, all 6 of them. They however had spent all their luck on getting to their side alive, that there was none left. VROOM. A mechanical beast rushed past crushing them all in one foul swoop. Its circular feet spraying blood everywhere while they twisted and turned. "DAMNIT!" one soldier shouted. Then more and more shouted in anguish. Then pure silence, everyone now just staring blankly into no man's land with hope that at least one survived but no.
