I woke up. The group was awake before me. They were all standing up.

"Leave now or else!" Amanda said.

They were talking to someone.

"I'm afraid that's not going to happen. I need a gun and you-" said a very familiar voice.

It was Connor.

"Connor!!!" I jumped up in excitement.

"Jess!!I never thought I was going to see you again!" He exclaimed.

We did our secret handshake.

"Wait how do you two know each other?" Asked Amanda.

"Jess and I go way back. We've been best friends since like kindergarten." Connor explained.

"Well I hope you know that he's-"

I interrupted Amanda.

"An annoying 14 year old who does stupid things like trying to steal a gun from two tough 16 year olds, a 15 year old and a child... Hmm, yeah I think that sums him up." I said sarcastically.

"I'm not annoying." He said.

"You can be extremely annoying sometimes." I said.

He rolled his eyes.

I packed up my bag. The group took there stuff and packed it into their back packs. We left the cafe and started walking in the forest.

"So have you seen phil?" I asked.

"No. You?" Connor answered.

"No, but I'm sure he's doing fine. He may do stupid things but he's really smart and he's watched tons of movies about zombie apocalypses. Also he always played shooting video games so he must be good with a gun." I explained.

"Yeah, do you remember that time when he told a teacher the reason he didn't do his homework was because he flew to Japan with his homework and a fat man took it from him, put it on his plate, covered it in gravy and ate it. Then the teacher said really show me your school bag and it ended up being in there?"

"How could I forget. He got 2 detentions from doing that and people couldn't stop talking about him." I replied.

"Phil did the craziest things man. I wonder how he's doing today." Connor told.

"He's probably at the beach enjoying life or something crazy like that." I said.

"How, what if there's like zombie fish?" Connor noticed.

"True, then he's probably doing what the rest of us are doing." I said.

"And what is that?" Asked Connor.

"Running." I said.

"Running from what?" Connor wondered.

"Running in general. Running farther and farther from the past. Running from the lurkers, running away from 'the group' " I said.

"What is 'the group'?" Asked Connor.

Amanda explained all about neil and "the group". Connor really wanted to go and slap neil in the face and lecture him about how animals and humans are equal and have the same rights. Yeah Connors big on animal rights but he's also big on female rights and stuff like that. He's very involved with global change.

I specifically remember him telling me that his biggest fear in life was that he'd never make a change in the world. Mine is not being able to say I've truly lived. Something about dying but knowing that you haven't lived a full life makes me feel like my life didn't matter but I like to forget the bad and focus on good so my fear isn't really a big issue.
