Part 3
Letting out a long groan, Kosai could tell that the world was starting to come back to her. She gently pressed one of her hands onto the top of her head and then placed it in several other places around her body. Nothing seemed to be cut or broken, not even a tiny scrape. She wondered what happened, as she could last recall that little pest of a pixie had thrown some kind of spell at her and Bakugou.
Her gray eyes blinked and Kosai looked around her.
Bakugou?! Where was he-
Her worry for her guildmate disappeared as soon as she registered her surroundings. This was certainly not where she had last been. The forest was around her and she could see how huge this forest was. Not in the usual way though. Oh no... something had changed and Kosai was slowly but surely starting to realize it.
She shook her head, looking at where she had been put. The blades of grass were tall- taller than her. Kosai couldn't believe it. How could it be?! She was the size of one of those darn pixies!!
The blonde-haired girl tried to focus and figure things out. She could figure this out! All she had to do was get back to town and find another mage who might have some kind of idea of how to fix this! She couldn't stay this size forever after all!
She started to walk, fearing what might be before her. Everything was a danger now after all. One wrong move and Kosai could be facing a bird or squirrel or some other kind of woodland creature that would easily attack and possibly devour her. The mere thought made her shiver.
Only for her to suddenly recall once more that she didn't come here by herself and that her guildmate was still missing. Kosai inhaled sharply and her pace quickened. Now thoughts of Bakugou having been killed and eaten by some creature that was supposed to be smaller than him filled her mind. Crap... he couldn't be dead, could he?
The sounds of rustling before her made Kosai stop and her eyes widened as something came through the underbrush. A caterpillar roamed by her and paid her no mind. She watched it do so and saw it start to munch on some of the blades of grass and then continue on.
Her appreciation for the literal smaller things passed by quickly as she suddenly heard the sounds of angered shouting from a little ways ahead. Kosai picked up the pace and sure enough managed to find Bakugou.
He had his scimitar drawn and was looking at a bird that seemed to have landed by him. No doubt having come to find a meal and found Bakugou instead of that caterpillar that had left at the perfect moment to avoid being this bird's dinner.
Kosai ran forward right as the bird made a jump at Bakugou. Its beak snagged the ends of his cape and before Kosai could react, Bakugou sliced it off of himself. The bird shook the cape, finding it wasn't tasty. It through it off to the side and once more observed not only Bakugou but Kosai as well.
"This doesn't look good." Kosai spoke, Bakugou growling from beside her. "Where is Tokoyami when we need him!"
"Fucking focus on getting this thing off our asses and not on the damn bird charmer!!" Bakugou yelled back at her, his magic igniting in his hands. "I'm gonna send it flying home without any of its damn feathers."
Kosai looked at him in shock. "No way! We can't risk fighting it! We need to run away and find somewhere not out in the open that this bird won't be able to reach us in!"
"Fuck no! This pest nearly tore my damn arm off!" Bakugou started only for his eyes to widen and he jumped towards Kosai.
Both tumbled down what would have once been an unnoticeable dip in the floor of the forest, but now was the same as rolling down a decently sized cliff. Both knocked heads, had their arms and legs twisted and several rocks and branches bump into them at painful and awkward angles.
Eventually, the pair stopped and sucked in the air. The moment of rest didn't last long though, as a shrill shriek came towards them. The bird had followed them and now was going straight for the pair of adventurers with its talons aimed.
"Get fucking back!!" Bakugou screamed and sent a concentrated blast of dragon magic forward.
The bird cawed loudly once more, but it only seemed to get more irritated with that attack. Bakugou dodged it and then looked to find where Kosai had gone. She had managed to get on the other side of the bird and was firing off her own magic.
The bird pulled away as it was struck with a flurry of string-like magic. It attached to the bird, holding down its feathers and making it unable to fly. It cawed, again and again, trying to free itself from the entrapping spell. As it did so, Bakugou was tugged down to a small opening by a trunk.
Kosai frantically tugged him, knowing that her spell would not last long. It was meant to slow an enemy down, not stop them completely. So they should not be wasting these few seconds they had to escape this bird.
She threw herself and Bakugou inside the little trunk opening and both of them heaved. The sounds of a distant cawing were a reminder of what they were currently facing. Red eyes met silver eyes and both seemed to come to an understanding at that moment.
The little competition between them both for pixie hunting could wait... right now, they'd need to work together as best they could to not only get out of this forest of creatures that wanted to devour them but find a way to return to their normal size.
A task that would truly test them both... especially their willingness to work with the other in times of crisis such as this one.
