Red

Imprisoned for three years almost took the sanity out of me. I lost the wants to continue living. Though i survived, being held immobile wasn't called living at all. It's dark and cold here.

The only lively color that i see is red.. my hooded cape. I snuggle unto it night by night everytime i am afraid. The poor fifteen-year old me. Now, about to turn eighteen. How could they?

I laid lifelessly, thirsty for hope. Then..

I heard noises from the metal door as if it was being unlocked. It creaked open and sunlight was able to enter. The light was able to touch my skin once again. It felt warm. For a moment, i felt alive.

I was momentarily blinded by the white light which i suppose was coming from the outdoors. I saw a fleeing blue color.. a cape. It was about when a hand reached unto me, that i fell unconscious again.

I regained consciousness and found myself in an unfamiliar room. It was bright and lively. I hear birds chirping by the open window. The wooden walls were artistically carved and the matress i laid on was as soft as a feather.

I then realized that my red cape was not with me. I rose up and held unto the side of the bed as i tried to stand. My body was still weak. Slowly, i walked towards a huge mirror on the wall and sat on the chair in front of it.

After three years, i saw my reflection again. My vision was blunt and blury. I blinked a few times and rubbed my eyes trying to see a clearer sight.

There, i saw myself. I felt fresh, the people who took me here might have bathed me. I became a bit frail but my body has shaped more slender and womanlike. Being rarely touched by sunlight for a long period of time, my complexion was pale white. My slightly wavy golden blonde hair has reached my hips. But my eyes remained the same. Still as bright brown as a fresh young wood. I smiled.

I have recognized myself. But one more things was lacking.. my hooded red cape. It was nowhere to be found in this room.

I was about to leave, when the door opened. What stood before me was what appeared to be a young man of my age. Slender male body, jet black hair, and eyes as blue as the deepest ocean. He was so neat as he wore a hooded blue cape. And on this grasp was my red cape.

"Oh, i'm sorry.", he apologized.
"Have i awoken you?", he added as he reached my cape to me.

I didn't reply and immediately wore my cape.

"You'll be alright.", he smiled. His words were so assuring. It somehow calmed me down.

He reminds me of someone..
