summary

▬▬ WHEN the Ancient Greeks built something, they built it with the intention for it to last. They built temples for gods, and gods were everlasting. They built gigantic statues, mighty fleets and momentous buildings like the Parthenon▬they built something with the purpose of it becoming permanent; rooted in the ground to last thousands of years. But nothing is permanent. The Colossus of Rhodes, a magnificent statue of the ancient sun god Helios was destroyed with no ruins left. The Temple of Artemis in Ephesus is nothing more than crumbling stone foundations. The Temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean Sea is merely a glimpse of the mighty sight it used to be.

Nothing is permanent. Everything will one day become ruins, and the gods will outlive each and every ruin until those ruins have become dust.

And yet, Wendy was determined to prove herself anyway.

For a demigod, she was frustratingly mundane. She had no special powers, nor nothing remarkably magnificent about her. She couldn't steal, she didn't have amazing accuracy nor could make the Camp strawberries grow a little quicker. Wendy held no magical weapon nor a Yankee's cap that could turn her invisible. She was good at remembering things▬especially when it came to recognising patterns. She new her basics in battle strategy and had a head full of random facts (history or otherwise). Being a daughter of Athena gave her a natural gift with weapons ... although, she was yet to figure out how she could tap into that. She was a disaster at archery and the lava wall.

She sometimes wondered whether her mother, Athena, had even claimed the right person. Was she even a demigod? Was dyslexia and a crazy amount of ADHD all her mother gave her? If so, she wanted to go back in time and swap with someone else.
