"So, you're all from Paradis?" You stirred your spoon around in the stew that was sitting in your lap. "Yeah, that's how we all met. Everyone knew someone." Armin sat across from you at the fire, Eren sitting right beside him.
"Erwin's goal is to get all of our names clear and move up north." Eren reached for more stew that was in the pot on top of the fire. You stared intently at the dark brown liquid that swirled around in the pot. It was silent as everyone sat there, sipping on the stew, the only person making any noise was Sasha, who practically had her nose in her bowl.
You looked around to see Levi sitting at the edge of the clearing in the woods, quietly enjoying his food, but Erwin was nowhere to be seen. "Y/N, when you're done I'll show you where you'll be sleeping." Jean set down his bowl on the patchy grass. You nodded your head and took the last sip of the stew, before standing up and following Jean.
His hair had gotten messier throughout the day now that his hat was off. He led you to a tent that was right by Erwin and Levi's. "Sorry, there's only room for two or three people in each tent and Mikasa, Hange and Sasha are together... which means you're stuck with me." Jean opened the tent, to the small, yet cozy area.
There were two sets of linen on either side of the tent. On one side it was completely, which was most likely yours. On the other side, there was a small crate that sat next to the linens. There were various photographs and letters piled on the crate.
"That's fine, I've lived with worse people." You gave him a small smile as you walked over to your set of linens and sat down. You watched as Jean removed his jacket and vest, placing them down neatly at the foot of the linens. "So, Y/N L/N. Where did you live before this?" He asked as he sat upright, looking straight at you.
"Well I hopped around, finding any motel I could afford, or someone that was willing to house me." You laid down on the sheets, propping yourself up using your elbow. "All by yourself?" He laid down on his sheets in the same position, facing you. "Yeah, ever since I was 14. My parents were killed in a robbery and I ran."
Your eyes went to the photographs sitting on the crate. "You didn't seem to always be in this gang." You looked at the largest photo in the middle. You recognized Jean, who was standing next to an older woman, both with the biggest smile on their faces.
"Yeah. I have a mother back home. I left her for all of this." Jean let out a heavy sigh and picked up the photograph next to it. It was a photo of Jean laughing and his arm around a guy. The guy had dark hair and looked about the same age. "Marco is the reason I'm here. The Warriors were responsible for his death, so I went after them and met Armin and Connie." Jean's voice wavered as he talked.
"I'm sorry." You frowned as you looked at the picture of Marco and Jean. "Doesn't matter. It was a couple years ago anyway." Jean set the photo back down and crashed down onto his back. "Tomorrow I'll take you out. I'm sure there's something Erwin or Hange wants done." Jean looked over to you, his arms holding his head.
"Thank you, again." You smiled as you removed your coat and laid down on the sheets. "Just get some sleep."

"Alright Y/N, we got a request from Sasha to go hunting. We're running low." Jean walked towards you, placing his hat on his head. "Please please try for some elk!" Sasha called from her butcher's area, waving at you.
You gave her a nod and followed Jean to where the horses were hitched. "I'll be joining you as well!" Connie skipped alongside you, swinging his gun around. "Christ. We're going to get nothing." Jean smirked and grabbed Connie by his shoulders.
"Oh come on." Connie whined as you all approached your horses. "Come on Charlie." You patted your horse and ran your hand down his black mane. You jumped on your horse, swinging your gun to the front of your body and grabbing the reins. "Follow me." Jean trotted in front of you on his light chestnut horse.
You and Connie followed Jean out of the camp and through the woods. You hadn't been out of the camp, but the woods were far deeper than you had thought. It took a while before you could start to see through the trees. The patchy grass of the woods began to become the nice luscious grass of the plains. The trees started to thin out and you emerged into the plains.
"We'll be on foot from here." Jean jumped off of his horse and held his rifle firmly in his hands.
You and Connie did the same, following Jean to the highest hill in the area. You dropped down to the ground, your stomach touching the grass as you held your gun up. "There's a whole herd over there." You pointed towards the edge of the woods, where some white-tailed deer were grazing. "Let's all take a shot at one of our choice." Jean crouched down next to you, getting a better look at the deer.
"I'll take the right." Connie said, as he got ready to aim. "Then I'll take the middle." You said as you pressed the side of your face to the rifle, aiming straight at the deer's head. "Ok. On my count so we don't scare them all off." Jean held up his pointer finger.
"3...2...1!" Jean said and you pulled the trigger, sending the bullet straight for the deer. You watched in triumph as the three deer dropped dead, as the others scurried away. "Nice shot you two." Jean smiled, giving you a small pat on your back. You jumped up from the ground and swung your gun around your back.
You slid down the hill, racing towards the bodies of the deer. You looked to your target, concentrating on the bullet wound that was right at the temple of it's head. "Y/N, you and I will split up and look for more animals. Connie, you stay here and skin them." Jean ordered Connie and waved as he walked off.
You turn around, heading back towards the hill, looking towards the area to try and look for more targets. You walked along the plains, your gun still on your back. You tried your best to stay silent, avoiding any twigs laying on the ground.
You paused for a second, looking at the ground, seeing an indent in the bright grass. You knelt down next to the indent and could make out the outline of a hoof print. You stood back up, swinging your gun to the front and grasping it. You followed the other faint indents in the grass until you reached what seemed to be the end.
You stretched your neck to look around you, and that's when you spotted it. The huge antlers on the top of it's head gave it away. You crouched down, slowly heading up the small hill, towards the animal.
You grinned as you held up the gun, aiming it at the elk's head. You took a deep breath, your finger on the trigger. "Sasha will love this." You pulled the trigger, sending the bullet towards the elk's head. It reacted too late, as the bullet lodged itself in the elk's head and it dropped dead.
You skipped towards the elk, swinging your arms. "Thank you." You patted the elk and reached into the side of your pocket, taking out the small knife you kept on handy.
You ran the knife down the abdomen of the elf and around it's torso. You cut the skin off of the elk, rolling it up and placing it to the side. You finished cutting the meat from the elk. You took everything that was edible and shoved it in the bag you had wrapped around your body.
You stood up, picking up the pelt and placing it on your shoulders.
You made your way back down to where Connie was with the deer. "Well, look at you." Jean smiled as he stood there with a couple of pelts in his hands. "Man, I wanted to get an elk." Connie frowned as he started placing the deer pelts on the back of his horse.
You draped the elk pelt over Charlie and jumped on. "I didn't know you were such a hunter." Jean walked up to your horse, patting the pelt. "There are lots we don't know about each other, Jean Kirstein."
