Jadepaw shone as the cat's gathered at Highstones chanted his new name. They had just been chanting for the new deputy, Emberpelt. He padded down to Ghostpaw, his best friend. His father, Sunstar, was made leader 6 moons ago, and Owlclaw the last deputy, died yesterday, killed by an attack from Lightningclan. He perked is ears to hear what Sunstar was saying, as the cheers had subsided. "Yes- that's a good point Troutclaw, but..." Jadepawrolled his eyes. Troutclaw was a grumpy elder, and he always had something that needed taken care of. Yowling broke the silence, and Jadepaw began to listen once again. "Silence!" Sunstar's voice boomed through the camp. "We will not attack Lightningclan. We have lost Owlclaw, but we can always-" A yowl stopped Sunstar in mid-sentence. "We need justice for my mate!" It was probably Shadowfur, who was still mourning over Owlclaw. Owlclaw had kits before she was murdered, and Dappelcloud, who was going to have a second litter, had taken them in. "There is a Gathering tomorrow." Sunstar said firmly. "I will be taking Emberpelt, Shadowfur, Frogpelt, Moonfur, Ghostpaw, and Jadepaw. Thank you for your time." Jadepaw sighed, and padded up to Ghostpaw who was headed toward the training hollow. "Where are you going?" He asked her, curious. "Frogpelt said I could train with another apprentice by my self." He twitched his ears. "But there isn't anybody with you." He meowed. Ghostpaw laughed. "But, I knew you would tag along."
The soft, tall grass and soothing sound of the pond frogs instantly calmed Jadepaw down. The training hollow was a very closed off area, and it was more of a huge, sunlit clearing in the middle of the Forest. He looked around for Ghostpaw, twitching his whiskers. He saw a sliver of white, and began to run away, but it was to late. Ghostpaw leaped on him, pinning him to the ground. "Hah!" Ghostpaw proclamied. Unsatisfied, Jadepaw shoved Ghostpaw in her stomach, and leaped on her, but she wriggled out. She flew underneath his legs, knocking him to the ground. She then dashed away, heading towards the pond. Hmph. Jadepaw thought. He padded towards the forest, climbing onto a tall tree branch. There was Ghostpaw, scanning the meadow. He climbed down a little, just about 5 tail lengths from Ghostpaw. He leaped down, and barreled toward er. He jumped on top of her pinning her to the ground. This time, although she struggled to get out, he had her pinned down. "I win." He whispered.
She stared into his glistening green eyes, entranced for a moment. Jadepaw leaned down until they were snout to snout, and they both stated intensely. Ghostpaw felt a little awkward, because they were both apprentices, and this was a little close. But she would become a warrior in almost 3 moons. Pregnancy takes longer than that, right? She thought, but then she shook the thought out of her head. Jadepaw would never do that as an apprentice. He leaned down and licked her cheek, then got off of her. He stood there, staring at her, then padded towards camp. Ghostpaw shuddered, confused, and began to pad back after him.
The moonlight shone through a tiny crack in the apprentices den, and it fell on Ghostpaw's fur, who was sleeping beside Maplepaw, her brother. Jadepaw's burned with jealousy, wishing he was Maplepaw, and he got to sleep next to her. Earlier today, he got close, maybe too close, to her, then padded back to camp, embarrassed. What he did, it made it seem like they were mates or something. 'Which I wish we were.' He grumbled in his head. They were still apprentices, but he felt this connection with her- one he didn't have with Petalpaw, his sister. He stared at the pair again, then shut his eyes, going back to the meadow.

What would Japepaw's and Ghostpaw's kits look like? This chapter was an 'OHSNAHP' chapter in my eyes, with all the talk of mates in pregnancy. We wouldn't want Ghostpaw to have kits as apprentice though. Leave your feedback, it always improves my writing. :)
