I take a quick glance around before i begin reading and sure enough, Sarah Smith is sitting on the bench across the courtyard from me. She is wearing a simple beige sweater, with black shorts and black Toms. Her wavy blonde hair was up in a messy ponytail, she was effortlessly pretty. I don't know why I was so interested in her, but I am. She was just so... Different. I can't tell if its different good, or different bad. Sarah and I had never talked, heck I had never heard her talk. We had never sat next to each other, I don't know if she's ever even noticed me. I dont know if she's ever noticed anyone for that matter. She was a girl of mystery, in the way that she was obliviously being it.
I shook my head to loosen my thoughts and tried to focus on my book rather than her, but I ended up ready the same page over and over. When I realized this, I huffed and gave in to satisfy my thoughts. I looked up at her and jumped back in shock, hitting my head against the tree. Sarah was staring at me. Why would she? Had she seen me looking at her? Thousands of thoughts crossed my mind as her green eyes stared into me. I was hit by a wave of newfound courage and stared right back at her.
It felt like we were staring at each other for an eternity, but the bell for first hour interrupted our silent conversation as she got up and walked to whatever class she had first hour. I was sitting against the tree still in shock. That was the first time Sarah was looking at me, or was it? Had she noticed me before? Thoughts about the forever distant girl clouded my mind until I realized that the day had gone by, and it was seventh hour; my only class with Sarah.
