Xander

It's been a while now that I have actually been enjoying my nights out, so I hope this time around will be the same. Cgc shows his ID to the security at the door and he nods his head once. I'm not turning 21 until July, but if you're in a group or pair like I am with Cgc, they don't ask for your ID as well. They usually just assume you're the same age. Gotta love the security teams nowadays, man.

The bar isn't as packed tonight, seeing as it's a Monday. Cgc and I both agreed that we wouldn't be drinking much tonight. Two beers maximum for both of us should be fine. If he goes over though, I don't mind driving his car home. He has the most beautiful Mercedes Benz that he lets nobody drive. Unless it comes to situations where he's too drunk to drive. I've never driven it but Chris has. I wouldn't mind giving it a drive.

Max, DJ, and Maddy are in a deep conversation when we make it into view. Max's head snaps up first at our appearance. He scoots further into the side of the booth where he sits alone. "What's up, man?" Cgc handshakes Max, so I give my attention to the other two people on the other side of the booth. "Hey, kid," I say to DJ, giving him a handshake. I look at the girl next to him, Maddy Hayes, and throw her a wink. Her green eyes roll immediately. I sit down next to her, on purpose, and Cgc fills the other space next to Max.

She shifts closer to DJ, "Oh God, everyone's going to think this is some kind of huge orgy." She shields her face with a hand like people can't see her. "It can be," Max says, dipping a chip into some salsa. DJ and I both make a disgusted faces. Cgc doesn't react, he's used to Max's dirty jokes already. "Max, I'll kill you," Maddy says sternly. He throws a grin her way, eating the chip in his hand. A waitress comes over and Cgc orders us some beers.

"Isn't that the girl who lied to Nova about Chris cheating on her?" I ask whenever our blonde waitress leaves. Maddy turns to me quickly, "Is it?" The scowl on her face is very evident, cute too. I was the one who told Valdez about the fact that he didn't in fact cheat on Nova and that it was just a miserable girl trying to set him up. I was there when Maddy found out and she offered to beat up the girl. Obviously, Nova stopped her. "I thought she worked at that restaurant," Max adds.

She did, but I'm pretty sure that was her. I look at Maddy who still waits for an answer from me. "Calm down, Conor McGregor. It is, but you're keeping your mouth shut," I tell her. I know Chris and Nova have put the situation behind them and Maddy saying something about it would just bring it back and nobody fucking wants that. It was annoying to have to deal with it in the first place. "Conor who?" She glares at me with her icy eyes. I actually like the way she stares at me like she wants to kill me. I can't help but smile which causes her to roll her eyes again.

"Just keep your pretty little mouth closed, Maddy. The situation is done with," Cgc says. We both look his way. She stares at him the same way she always does at me and just like myself, he doesn't flinch, not like others would. "Hello? She tried breaking up our friends. She deserves worse than my fist." She looks around at all of us, waiting for at least one of us to agree with her. None of us do because her measures are always a little too extreme.

She shakes her head. "I'm not leaving a tip," she finally comes to the realization that no one's going to back her up. "I paid for your drink," Max says. She throws up her middle finger at him and takes a sip from her drink without looking at him. "I still can't believe Brady won another fucking Super Bowl." DJ looks up at the flatscreen above Cgc and Max's head. They're giving a replay of SuperBowl 55 where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Kansas City Chiefs. Tampa Bay was victorious.

I wasn't rooting for them because I hate Tom Brady so I've been trying to pretend like that game didn't happen. "He's the fucking GOAT man," Max says. I roll my eyes, Cgc as well. He's a huge Brady fan, being from Boston. Even after Tom Brady left the Patriots, he bandwagoned the Bucs, his new team. Nevertheless, he's the only one of us who isn't upset with the outcome of the game. None of us necessarily like the Chiefs, but we went for anyone other than Brady.

"If that's what we're calling cheaters now, then sure," Cgc fake smiles. "Let's not talk about football, man. I can't even have a single thought of that shit in my head right now. Coach is gonna kick our asses in less than a month," DJ groans. He's right. We start practicing for next season again after spring break which is in two weeks. We only practice for about a month and a half and then we have a little break in the summer before starting up again.

I don't think my body is mentally ready to get back into the gist of things. I just hope the next couple of weeks goes by slow as fuck. "Right? The old man is gonna make us run miles," Max says, drinking his beer. The waitress finally comes back with our beers. I look at Maddy, but she stays quiet, distracted by something on her phone. By the time she looks back up, the blonde is gone again. I take a sip of my beer and motion my head towards her phone. "What's so entertaining on there?" I ask.

"None of your business, Xander." I should've seen that one coming, yet I'm so intrigued by this woman sitting next to me. I still have no idea why, but shit do I want to find out. It's kind of hard to because every word of hers towards me is laced with venom. I don't think she's ever actually been nice to me once. No, I know she's never been nice to me. My phone buzzes against my thigh, distracting me away from her. I pull it out to see a text from Valdez.

Valdez: Where's everyone?

Me: bar with cgc, idk bout rhys

Me: why?

Valdez: Naah, he's not here either.

Valdez: And no reason :)))))))))

Me: ya fucking little nasty

Valdez: U have a dirty mind. But you are correct.

I let out a small chuckle and shove my phone back into my pocket. "Who was that?" Maddy asks. I pick up my beer and take a drink from it, looking at her from above the rim. "None of your business, Madison," I smirk and she narrows her eyes at me again. She turns her attention away from me, "Max, let's go dance. I like this song." She sticks her hand out towards him and he grabs it, ending his conversation with DJ. Cgc slides out of the booth allowing Max out and the two walk hand in hand out to the small dance floor. I can't help but watch them the whole way.

He places his hands on her waist and she places hers around his neck loosely. A small pan of jealousy hits me so I look away quickly, taking a long drink of my beer. I know they're just friends and nothing would ever blossom there so I don't know why it aggravates me. It really shouldn't in the first place because I should not be having any type of feelings for this girl. Not these types of feelings at least.

"You think Maddy's fine?" DJ catches my attention with this. He's looking at me, not Cgc. Fuck, I hope they didn't catch me staring at her and Max for too long. Cgc laughs, "I think you've been around long enough to know they fucking despise each other," Cgc answers for me. Well, thank God. I was about to stutter out a 'no' which would be a lie of course. "So? You could hate the girl but she's fine as hell, Xan," DJ adds. I don't turn to look at Maddy again and just shake my head instead. "Don't talk about her to me," is all I say. Cgc tilts his head at our friend like saying see, he hates her.

That's not really the case, I just choose not to hear him call her attractive anymore. DJ, like the rest of me and my friends, is a little fuckboy. Girls fucking love the light skin boys with pretty eyes, I don't blame him. I've heard him talk about women and it's not always in the best ways. I don't want to hear him talk that way about Maddy, so I shut it down. He knows how Cgc feels about the situation since he's slept with her a couple of times. Fuck me. I forgot about that until now.

Maddy and Max come back to our table after a couple of minutes. "Look who just got here, C." His gaze follows some girls over by the bar, five of them. I know all of them and so do my friends. "Fuck. Stay away from Brynnlee, I call shots," Cgc says. She's the only brunette from the five, so it makes sense. "Let's go, then," Max gestures his head towards the group of girls. "What the hell, Max! That's why you stopped dancing with me?" Maddy glares at him. He shrugs. DJ pats my shoulder, "Ima go with them." I roll my eyes, sliding out of the booth to let him out. Once my three friends are up, they all start heading towards the girls on the other side of the bar.

Maddy slides into the other side of the booth, glaring holes into Max's back. He's too distracted by a potential hookup to care about his friend's feelings right now. Me on the other hand? I'm fucking ecstatic. I'm getting some free time with a woman who absolutely despises me. What more could I ask for? She finally looks back at me and I smirk. She rolls her eyes in realization. Yup, it's just you and me, Madison.
