I really don’t know how many times I am going to restart this book. Wish me luck.

“Josie it’s summer!!!!” My best friend Zeb said to me as we walked out of Smoky Hill high school. That’s right. It was the last day of school and summer was just about to begin. Today is June 4th, nine days ‘til my 18th birthday. I can’t say I’m not excited. I was held back in the first grade, because I ditched school a lot. Yeah, I might have been really young, but I was already ditching school. When came for recess I took off. So I was a year older than everyone, because of being held back. I met Zeb my second year of first grade, and ever since then we were inseparable. Zeb and I have known each other our whole lives and let me tell you, if it weren’t for him I may have been in jail already.

“I know Zeb!” I replied. “My first summer as an adult…” I thought out loud.

“So what are you evil plans for this summer? that maybe don’t involve us running from the cops.”

“Hey! It wasn’t my fault you agreed to help me break into that store!”

“That was a close one.”

“Anyways I was thing about maybe hitting up some clubs and crashing a few parties.”

“Of course you were…I was thinking that this summer we could hit the pools and take nice drives in the mountains.”

I pursed my lips and then finally replied, “OK, we’ll do a little of both.”

We hoped into my white 1990 ford bronco that is currently covered in mud from its wheels to the roof and headed to his house, so I could drop him off. I liked my off roading and I wasn’t your typical girly girl. I dressed like one sometimes, but other than that I was a guy on the inside. The windows were all down and Zeb and I had Owl City blasting because Owl City is he and I’s thing. I dropped him off telling him I would text him later tonight and headed to my house. Zeb was going to be helping me move out of my parents place this summed the day after my birthday when I turned 18, so I had packing to do. I found a house like literally 1 minute from mine that had the basement being rented out by someyoung adults. I talked to them and they seem like they had just started living on their own as well. If I moved in there then that would make it 4 people in that house. They people renting it out was Nate, Brady and Debbie. Brady and Debbie were both my age and they shared a room on the top floor, they were engaged. Nate was 22 and lived in the basement next to the room that they would be renting out to me. Nate was a huge Marilyn Monroe fan. There were pictures of her everywhere in the basement. Nate was also single and was a good family friend of Brady’s which is why they lived together. I decided I would take their offer since they didn’t appear to be creeps and the house was in very good shape. Nate was some type of construction worker that made good money and Brady was some type of worker that did wiring for companies, so he made good money too. Debbie was and office assistant for some kind of top guy. I would be the only one in the house that was still in school.

-----9 days later…after crashing one party and going swimming 4 times-----

I woke up in a bed that…hey this isn’t my bed I thought to myself. I turned to the other side of the bed but no one there, and then I soon recognized my surroundings. I was in Zeb’s room.  I could because his sent filled my nose. I got out of bed and went to his kitchen and found him making breakfast.

“Hey! Lookie here, the birthday girl is alive!”

“Bite me.” I was not a morning person. “...so what are you making?”

“Only your favorite.”

My heart skipped a beat. He was making me peanut butter waffles! My eyes widened and I sat at the table and waited.
