A few weeks had passed, and with each day that came, the young boy from earlier visited you and Eren at the hospital's courtyard.

You learned that this young boy went by the name of Falco, which made you think of a falcon.

He always came by to tell you two stories about what happened that day. A very sweet young man.

He walked into the courtyard, and found you and Eren sitting next to each other on a bench.

Earlier, you and Eren were talking about plans for the upcoming attack.

Before you learned that the people in Marley were just people, it hurt to think that you could be the fault of thousands of deaths.

You could never tell Eren or any scout that you didn't want to pull through with the attack, and even thinking about it made you nauseous. But, the attack was going to happen and there was nothing you could do about it.

"Hey!" Eren yelled at the child, making you and Falco both look at him.

Falco ran towards you too, with a grim look.

Hi, little one! Hey, I have some candies I snuck from the front lobby. They're little Carmel things. Do you want one? " You say, shaking a hand full of candy at the little boy with a big smile.

He smiled gently back and took a couple from your hand.

"Thanks Pat, I appreciate it," he said with a chuckle.

Falco looked at Eren and said, "It looks like you two are recovering well. You two can both talk now!"

"Kinda, we are mostly here for emotional trauma, but it's a lie. I said I lost my memory and can't go home, but the truth is I don't want to. It'd be hard to face my family right now. "

You looked at Eren and closed your eyes, knowing that everything coming out of his mouth was bull.

"I'm sorry you two are going through this," said Falco, "this place is cruel."

Eren deepened his voice, "Will you snitch on us?"

"Of course not, that would be rude, especially since there is a girl," replied Falco. "

You brushed and smiled, "Now, where did you learn to be so kind to women?"

The young boy chuckled, "Why, my older brother, he told me to never shame a woman."

"Sounds like a great man. I might have to meet him. Single?"

Eren got a confused look on his face. You looked at Eren and smiled.

"Oh.. well.. he is, and he's been having a hard time finding someone. He's a little young for the military, only seventeen."

You gave out a big laugh, "Well, if you ever show me off to him, don't tell him you found me at a mental hospital!"

Falco shook his head and laughed, "sure thing, my lady."

Falco looked down at the ground and lost his joyful expression.

"You're hurt," said Eren, looking at the young boy. "Is it from your warrior training?"

The young boy deepened his voice, "yeah, but I won't become one. There's another talented cadet. I don't even have a chance."

"That's good to hear," Eren said, speaking with a numb tone.

You and Falco both looked at him in confusion, then you looked away because you knew the reason.

"You're a good guy. I hope you love a long life."

Falco replied softly, "But I don't want them to become warriors."

Is the other candidate a girl? " I said Eren, knowing that the young boy was soft on girls.

Well, she's famous around here, and is called a military hero... Everyone agrees that she should be the next Armored Titan. But because I'm powerless, I can't do a damn thing. "

You patted the boy's back. And he gently wrapped his hand around yours.

Every day I'm here, I wonder why it's ever come to this," Eren spoke, "damaged minds and bodies, freedom getting taken away, everyone losing themselves."

As Eren went on with his speech, you looked around the courtyard, seeing men all over mourning and praying.

Eren went on, "If people knew that this was going to happen, there wouldn't be war, but most people push that aside." The situation we're in wasn't their choice; others made them do it. People who push their backs see a different type of hell. They can see something beyond hell. It might be hope, it might just be another hell. Only those who keep moving forward will ever know.

Both you and the boy looked at Eren, speechless.

Eren got up and walked away, "I'm going to get dinner. I'll see you two later."

Now it was just you and the boy, and you scooted over to let the young boy have more room on the bench.

I'm sorry about that Falco. Mr. Kruger (a name that is Eren's new code name for the mission) has been pretty offset due to battles and what not. I do believe he's in a good state of mind at the moment. I hope you are not frightened by his outlook."

The young boy looked at the ground once more and spoke, "Pat, I can say if he's lying, because the world does seem pretty bad. I don't like it here either."

Your eyebrows delve deep into your face. "I'm sorry once more. A young boy such as you shouldn't have to know what this world is like. You are a sweet little child. You know, when I was about your age, I was in quite the same situation."

You smiled and continued, "You mentioned your brother. Is he a warrior candidate too?"

The boy slowly nodded, "he's next in line for the Beast Titan, considering he's older than the rest of us and pretty experienced at fighting and leading."

You nodded, "he's seventeen? What's his name? "

"Colt, Colt Grice."

"Nice name. I would love to meet him. If he's anything like you, of course."

He smiled and patted your hand that was lying on your knee, saying, "I'm sure he would like to meet you too. I'm sure you two would get along."

"I'm from Paradis; you call us Devils, and we call you Devils over here," you said, your lip quivered and your smile faded.

Falco gave a sigh, "Yeah, I forgot."

You looked down at him and rubbed his head. You don't look like a Devil to me. I think the conspiracists are lying.

He chuckled, "You're too sweet to be a devil. I don't know what they are talking about." But, I'm not sure how everyone else here would feel, you know? "

"Don't worry, I've been called a devil all my life. When I was a child, I was an orphan, poor, dirty, sick, and starving. The rich called me the Devil. When I turned into a teenager, I finally shaped up, but since I was a stronger female, I got called a Devil by weak men, and now I'm here, just because I'm different. You know, people are scared of others on the sole fact that they are different. "

Yeah, Colt has told me something like that, but then he says, "you're a solider, Falco, worry about yourself before others." even though he told me before to hold doors open for pregnant women. "

You chucked, "he's right though, and I would have to disagree. I don't think war is the same as holding the door open for a pregnant woman."

You stopped talking for a moment. and widened your eyes.

There was a minute of silence that was finally broken by a nurse yelling, "Time for Dinner!"

Falco patted you on the back, making you lose track of time, "well Pat, it's getting late, I'd better start heading out! Bye! "

Goodbye.
