"I miss him." Luke said, his sad eyes looking directly on the ground as we walk a little slower, waiting for the rest to catch up with us. "I know. but he's not here anymore right? we have to keep moving. I wish we could bring him back, believe me. I wish I got bitten instead of him. but we can't do anything to change the past. Ryan would want you to move on too, I know he would." "guess you're right. I just... I don't know. I just thought I'd get used to losing our loved ones faster. but day after day after day... another one dies, our group gets smaller every day, we're about to run out of supplies and we're really far from any city right now... it sucks. but somehow, we still want to live." "-Hey guys! slow down!" Gabe yelled, and the others tried nicely to tell him to shut the fuck up before every single possible lurker around us would start trying to get themselves some fresh human lunch. "sorry." he whispered as Jess put her hand in his starting to run our way. "so Ivy... how have you been since then?" "I guess i'm okay. at least better than everyone else emotionally. it's hard, but even in a world like this i still feel like i want to be here. at least i think i do." I gave Luke a little crooked smile and hugged him. "we'll be okay. oh by the way, my knife is still in your pocket from earlier when you tried to open up that can." "oh right." he took it out and gave it back to me. "thanks." I smiled, already seeing Gabe and Jess behind Luke, about to approach us as they shared a little dry kiss on their way. I rolled my eyes and then giggles when I realized Luke was amused by the fact I do this every time I see them kiss. "I know. I know." he nodded and I let out a little sigh. "I'll be fine." I said turning around to wave at Ben and Andy who were still behind. "come on guys, the houses are right there. we'll find a place to crash for the night and look for supplies or anything useful." Luke said, making them run a little faster to catch us. "let's keep moving." he said, running his hand through his hair to the back of his neck. "I'll give you a backrub if we find food tonight." I said sarcastically and put my knife in my pocket.

"get Bryan and Nina to the van, tell Ryan we have to leave now." I looked right into Ben's eyes repeating what I said in the same order. Luke and I took everyone's stuff and put them in the van as Andy, Jess and Gabe were searching the store right next to the pharmecy I was in with Luke and Ben. Andy was on his way to get the others but we got worried cause it took him at least 20 minutes. Luke and I we're outside waiting for Ben to come back with Bryan, Nina and Ryan, and of course, Andy. I heard screamings and before I even thought of runing to help. Luke was already halfway inside with his riffle and big sharp knife. I started running, then saw someone jumping outside of the window and starting to run towards me yelling something. "Ivy! get van! get the van! they're coming!" he yelled. at first I thought it was Luke, but no, it was Ryan. so easy to get confused since they are twins but really just look exactly like each other. when I look really close I can see who is who because Ryan has a little beauty mark under his left eye right on the top of his cheek bone. I started running to start the van and drove right to where the others were, in that big store that was no starting to burn down and got crowded by lurkers. "get inside!" I yelled. "no, Luke is still there! the others too, I need you! give me my gun!" he yelled. I grabbed the gun and got outside with him. he was killing three lurkers that were right on top of his twin brother Luke in no time and he got him out. we were all standing outside in the driveway as we realized the twins were missing. "stay right here! be ready to move the minute we get out of there." I said and ran into the store. three headshots kept the lurkers away from Luke, but then, the last one I needed to save Ryan... that was it. I lost it. I missed the lurker's head and saw how Ryan's blood started flowing down his neck and chest as he was yelling at his brother to run and save himself. I shot the lurker's head but it was too late. "Kill me, Luke. please..." he was begging. Luke was on his knees on the floor, trying to help Ryan get up, but it was too late. "we have to go Luke... we gotta go." I whispered as my tears started streaming down my face. "we can't just leave him!" Luke yelled at me and I helped Ryan get up. we carried him right into the van, the rest were ready to leave but Andy got out to help get Ryan inside. the ride was quiet, Luke holding his brothers hand the whole time, letting him know how much he loves him. I was sitting next to Andy who was driving and couldn't speak. this was too much for me. the sun was starting to rise as we finally found a place to crash for the night. Ryan was too far gone at this point and Ben was the one to put him down before he'd turn and try to eat any of us. if he did, it would've been probably Luke because he refused to leave his side the whole time. "I'm sorry I failed. I could've saved you... I'm sorry Ryan. rest in peace. you'll always be with us." I kissed his forhead before letting Bryan and Andy bury him properly. that night, Luke refused to eat, drink or even look at any of us. he was staring at the floor. not even crying or saying anything. I felt like we've lost both of them and not just Ryan and it took two weeks for Luke to say anything again. but I understood. I could feel his pain, and his reaction was just like mine when I lost my little sister Kelly. but that was a few months before I bumped into the twins in Atlanta when the camp was still working properly.
What we didn't know that night was the fact Nina got bit and the first person to get eaten by her was her dear husband Bryan who also shot her and himself before any of us would get bit or ripped to pieces alive. three people, one night. we grew stronger since then but it's still as painful.

-present day-
Three knocks on the door. any walker that could've been inside the house would've come get us by now. we all walked in, with our weapons ready to kill anything that would come at us, dead or alive. "check the bedrooms." Luke said and Gabe was opening doors violently with Andy and Ben while I was searching the kitchen for anything edible or useful. "got anything good there?" "actually yes." I handed Luke a big knife that was very long and sharp. a little dirty, but that didn't bother any of us. "this is useful indeed. any cans of food? water?" "I need to keep looking." I said opening the cabints. "there you go." he looked into one of the cabints leaving me surprised looking at about 20 cans of beans, corn, a juice box. "dusty, but we can take all of them." he said sweetly kissing my cheek. "awesome." I started taking them to the living room. "Gabe, Jess, you can have the big bedroom. Ben and Andy you can get the other room, Ivy and I will just stay here on the couches and not just sleep but watch just in case anything comes here to get us not ready. Ivy, we'll take shifts." Luke said and everyone nodded at him. "grab a can guys." I smiled and went back to the kitchen, opening a big disgusting stinky fridge that was filled with bottles of water. wasn't cold or too fresh, but any water will do at this point. Luke and Ben we're getting some woods for the fire pit, Jess was trying to help me search for more supplies in the other rooms. "some meds... medical stuff... this is one good house. we got lucky tonight." "We did." I nodded happily and kept looking for things, but that was it. "We should probably search for more things in the rest of the neighborhood tomorrow before we keep heading up north." Luke grabbed my hands in his and gave me a big hug, squeezing my ribs. "I was thinking the same." Whispering quietly I held him tight and a heavy breath left my lungs. "I'm getting tired of this." "What?" -"nothing." I denied saying anything ever and Luke slowly let me go. "Go to sleep first, Ivy. You need it." He said sweetly kissing my cheek. Before Ryan died we were very close but since that incident we got even closer and it doesn't feel like we're just friends anymore. There's a lot more physical touch and it feels like... Like I like him. I don't know if its for real or just my desperate need of the old life, the ability of going in dates or falling in love and then wanting to settle down. Maybe both? It's hard to tell. Whatever happens happens.

"Good morning... Why didn't you wake me up?" I said quietly, Luke was eating something and sitting on the floor as I was waking up slowly. "You were so peaceful I felt bad waking you up. But I got some sleep myself, Andy was taking my shift cause he woke up and couldn't sleep."
My feet were a little cold and I joined Luke on the floor next to the fire pit, warming up my feet. "I have a surprise." He said. "Huh?" "Mouth wash." He said and took out a bottle of it. "I was in the garage. They had a box full of them, apparently one of the people who used to live here was a dentist." I laughed and took the bottle. "Thank you." I smiled and went to the bathroom. As I was washing my mouth enjoying feeling so clean again, I heard some noises which made me look over my shoulder and take out my knife. I started walking carefully and quietly to the room across the hall, it was a kids room. "What the..." I mumbled and opened the door slowly. My knife was ready for a reason, but seeing this wasn't helping my bad mood. A little kid looking at me with a mouth full of blood and white bloody eyes, looking so hungry. I could see the bite, right on his left arm. We were staring at each other for a few seconds until he started to get closer to me step by step, but I was too deeply staring at him as I was walking backwards and tripped. "God damnit." I freaked out for a second trying to control my knife so I could stick it right through his brains but he was all over me trying to get himself a bite of my fresh human body. "Jesus Christ." I sighed, and in one fast motion my knife was right between his eyes. I kicked him off me and took back my knife, wiping off the blood on his dirty shirt. "Sorry, kid..." My heart was racing, I looked down and started walking away. "Ivy? Is everything okay?" I heard Andy's voice. "Just a walker." "Its not just a walker you could've got killed." He said a little angry. "But I didn't. I know how to handle them, I don't need any help Andy." "I know. I just got worried because of the noise." "I know, sorry." I hugged him and we dragged the body into the room, putting him on the bed. "Rest in peace little guy." He said closing the door behind us. "We should start moving." I said, we we're now downstairs trying to get ourselves together before finding ourselves on the streets again. "Those are enough supplies for the next few days. We have to find more weapons today. We're almost out of bullets." Luke said to everyone in a bossy way. We agreed but I thought he should take it easy. "Let's go." He said, and as soon as we got out, a few walkers were surrounding us. About 6-7 walkers became 10, and slowly 20 to 30. We're screwed. So screwed.
