"Poppy, we have to wake up mommy" Derek smiled as he walked into his and Meredith's bedroom. He gently shook her awake and saw her looking straight into his eyes, the fog was still visible which was usually there when she woke up

"D-Der?" She frowned

"Morning sleepyhead" Derek smiled softly and smiled as Poppy placed her head on the Meredith's side of the bed

"P-Poppy" Meredith smiled and tried to turn herself a bit. Derek let her try, she was doing a great job

"Oh I see. Poppy is more important than me" Derek chuckled

"N-No! Didn't mean that.. uh..-" Meredith frowned

"I know, Mer. I'm sorry, I was joking" He smiled

"Joking" She nodded

"You just need a minute to wake up, just so the fog can disappear" Derek smiled softly

"Yeah.. fog" Meredith sighed

"Can I change your catheter while you sit here with Poppy?" Derek asked

"Oh- yeah" Meredith seemed to forget about the plastic bag attached to her leg

"I'll do it quickly" Derek said as he put on the gloves

"Where.. uh.. Gracie?" Meredith softly tried

"Alex came to get her. You have PT today and it might be easier when it's calm here. They're going to the playground and have McDonalds" Derek smiled

"M-McDonalds?" Meredith's eyes grew wide

"Should I suggest they come out here so we can have dinner together?" Derek asked as he returned

"Together, yeah" Meredith nodded as she was stroking Poppy's soft head with her left hand

"Poppy, would you like McDonalds as well?" Derek chuckled

"Poppy try.. nug-nuggets?" Meredith asked softly

"I'm sure one won't hurt her" Derek winked "Poppy already had breakfast. Maybe we can go sit outside for a bit before PT?" Derek suggested

"Y-Yeah. Poppy can run. Run outside" Meredith smiled. Her speech getting better as her brain slowly woke up

"I'm sure Poppy would like that a lot" Derek smiled softly "Can I help you get changed?"

"Yes" Meredith smiled softly

Derek helped her sit up and started undressing her out of her pajamas and dressed her into some comfortable pants and a soft and warm sweater

"Can I transfer you to the chair?" Derek asked and lifted her when she nodded. He made sure she was sitting down comfortably and adjusted her legs on the footrest

"G-Good" Meredith gave him the thumbs up

Derek pushed Meredith's chair outside while Poppy was carefully following them

"Poppy.. uh.. break" Meredith smiled as the dog turned around once before running of and running over their property

"I think she loves her new home" Derek kneeled down next to Meredith and grabbed her weak hand softly

"Poppy loves new home" Meredith confirmed and looked at her hand, her fingers twinging

"She loves you so much" Derek looked into Meredith's eyes

"Love Poppy too" Meredith nodded as a tear escaped her eyes

"I love you" Derek kissed her forehead

"I love you too" Meredith said, completely sounding like her

The two of them were laughing as Poppy kept running and almost tripped over her own paws

"Poppy!" Meredith giggled

"She's the best" Derek laughed "Do you want a cup of coffee?" Derek asked softly

"Coffee, yes!" Meredith smiled

"Will you be fine or should I wait a minute?" He asked

"P-Poppy and I will play" Meredith giggled and kept looking at the beautiful young dog

When a tingling feeling in her fingers overtook her she had a feeling of what was happening. Instantly Poppy was next to her and started barking. Before Meredith knew it blackness had overtaken her and her body slipped out of the wheelchair as it was shaking violently. Poppy knew she had to push Meredith on her side which luckily wasn't too hard with the hard surface. Poppy kept whimpering and seemed to be lost when the seizure didn't stop

Poppy rested her head in the crook of Meredith's neck and licked her from time to time

"Mer?!" Derek ran towards them "Poppy, watch out" Derek said as he wanted to check on Meredith but Poppy didn't let that happen. She was trained to look after Meredith and so she did "Mer, you will be okay" Derek whispered as her body finally went limp in his arms. He rolled her back on her back and saw Poppy was licking her fingers once again

"Hmm" Meredith groaned weakly

"Good job Poppy" Derek breathed and brushed some strains of hair out of his wife's face

"W-What?" Meredith was completely out of it, this was definitely one of the most severe seizures she had until now

"Mer, you had a seizure. I'll carry you inside so you can rest" Derek told her as he scooped her up, Poppy glued to his leg as she made sure he would take care of her

Derek installed her on the couch and made sure she was good before he kissed her forehead

"How are you feeling?" He asked concerned

"Head hurts" Meredith whispered and instantly Poppy rested her head on Meredith's leg "Love- Love Poppy" She breathed

"Poppy loves you too. She did a great job. I'll bring you some water and I'll bring a bowl for her as well, I don't think she'll wanna move a lot today. I'm sure she doesn't wanna keep her eyes off of you" Derek kissed both their heads "I'll call PT, make sure today gets canceled"

Messed up my exam this morning and I really should be studying now but I just can't pay attention :p I'm not sure how much I'll update the next days because I have my last exam on Thursday but I also have to go to the hospital so I'll have to see 💁‍♀️
