(Like very later on but early warning)
All of the octonauts were going to bed. Just another normal day on the octopod- well night- but still, Tweak fell asleep playing video games, Dashi was already in bed an extra 20 minutes before everyone else, Kwazii had finally stopped reading about pirates, Peso put the last bandage up for the night, Inkling fell asleep reading- again, Shellington made sure the vegimals were asleep before he put himself in bed, and Barnacles shut off the last light in the octopod.
He headed up towards his pod and made sure to be as quiet as possible. While walking through the halls, he noticed something. One of the walls seemed darker than the others. Yes, it was nighttime, in the ocean, but the wall seemed almost pitch black. It was almost as of there wasn't a wall and just an endless abyss randomly placed around the octopod. Barnacles shone his light on the wall and immediately noticed the difference. The wall seemed slightly, out of place. "Why are you..? He asked trailing off before he could finish his sentence. He brought his head closer to the edge of the wall and noticed that it was backed out, more towards the ocean. He could see the water and some ocean life outside of the small spaces at the end of the wall. "What the-?" He asked not really knowing what he was asking.
He touched the wall and ran his fingers towards the edge. His fingers slipped out of the edge of the wall and were met with the cold ocean. He began to feel faint, thinking it was just fatigue that made him feel faint (and feel the water) he started walking back to his pod. He didn't even make it three steps before he passed out on the floor. Cliché huh? (Idk what cliché means lol. Like 'how original' or something)
Barnacles woke up in a bright yellow room with buzzing lights slightly flickering above his head. He propped himself up on his arms and rubbed the side of his forehead where he fell against the floor. "Where am I..?" He whispered to himself. He stood up and let his vision adjust to the light. He looked around, noticing how familiar and scarily nostalgic the halls looked. The walls were stained a yellowish color with off white accents, and the floor was a tan like carpet with slight mold in the corners of the rooms and occasionally a stain here or there. The same mold and stains appearing on the roof along with the blinding fluorescent lights. "Where the hell-?"
Kwazii shot up and looked around "Where-?" He began but immediately started coughing. His mouth felt dryer than the Sahara desert. 'I could really use some water right about now..' He stood up, wobbling on his heels, and caught a glimpse of where he was. I know this place. No I don't. Do I? Kwazii felt like he knew this place, although he didn't want to, like there was a terrible connection with it. How did he get here? Where was his bedroom? He just wanted to curl up in a ball and sleep. He couldn't do that with the asshole-ish affect of the lights.. And the fact that the carpet was disgusting. Even though he wasn't one to complain. "Why so bright matey?" He asked as if someone could hear him.
Peso slightly opened his eyes before shielding them from the horrendous light above his head. "Ow.." he complained before realizing he was no longer in his pod. He looked around and stood up a bit too fast but adjusted quickly. He felt an overwhelming sense of security and terror at the same time. He looked around too fast to understand really anything. 'Bright, annoying, yellow..' he noted as he spun around through the dusted air. 'Almonds?' "Do I smell almonds?" He questioned himself. He started to walk forward, hunting for the source of the smell. It wasn't long before he realized the fact that this was a maze. So he stopped.
He felt like crying. I mean, he was always sensitive, but why now? Was it because of the loneliness, the terror, the familiarity? The lack of knowledge on his whereabouts? Probably all four of those. "I want those almonds.." He craved for something. Anything other than the copies of halls strung around every corner.
