"Alice, are you still up young lady?!" I rushed across the room ignoring mother's call. Pens, pens, where are you guys! My brain exclaimed. "Ah finally!" I reached under my bed and grasped the pens with such force they burst, splattering ink all over my sweatshirt. I ran to the bathroom swooshing water in my hands and on my clothing. Mother barged in angrily and gasped in horror. I couldn't blame her, my room was a construction sight! Prisma colors on the bed and drawer, pens on the floor, watercolors rushing down the wall. "I know mom, but look at this!" I grabbed my art piece and ran to her. I smiled brightly just to be yelled at. "It is 11! This is unacceptable!" She grabbed the paper and art materials, storming out. I frowned, but I knew my mom was right, deep inside, I just didn't want to admit it.
I lied in bed for a couple hours, wide awake. I heard we were getting an intern student who might full time transfer to our school! I couldn't wait to meet them! I knew it was late at night, but I decided to call my best friend anyway. "Ali! What the hell? It's two in the morning!" "I know I know sorry, Tuesday. I'm just so anxious to meet the new student!" Tuesday was my best friend since first grade. She was a fun person with short sea-colored hair. Ever since she was a child, her parents were always fighting. I always helped her though, and when they confirmed a divorce, she stayed with us for two weeks. It was nice to watch her laugh and stay joyed even in her hardest times. "Oh my gosh Ali what's it with you and meeting new people? They're just a human. You never end up talking or even acknowledging them anyway" She laughed. "I don't know.. I feel confident about this one." I smiled.
Twenty minutes later Tuesday quickly hung up because her mom had heard us laughing over TikTok memes and barged in. I really wished mother wouldn't find out...
Good news! Tuesday's mom's an angel! At school I found out the new student was transferring to my class! As she walked in the teacher asked her to introduce herself. "I'm Ember. I'm not much of a people-person so I'd appreciate it if you all just went on with your lives." I exchanged a disappointed glance with Tuesday. Ember slowly walked over to her seat; right in front of me.
I poked her with a pencil and went back to doing my assignment. She looked over at me and then back to her work. I looked at Tuesday and we silently giggled. I did it again. This time she ignored it. So I decided to stop but I swear this happened accidentally, I tripped over my chair and my hand flew forward, accidentally poking her again, but really hardly. I gasped; realizing her shirt was turning a bright red "Ember, I'm so s-" "You will regret this..." she whispered leaving to the nurse. I wanted to apologize but I just couldn't.
At the end of the day I asked my teacher to go to her home room, I needed to apologize. "Hey Ember, I really-" "No need." She smiled, "I know we got off on a wrong start but I don't want to be enemies." "I agree." She gave me a tight hug.
