Note: When it says DC, it really means Gov, but J haven't gotten used to it yet, so I'm still writing it as DC.

Synopsis: DC protects a state that got hurt.

———————————————————————

DC was sitting on the couch in the living room, relaxing for once, when he heard a scream come from one of the states' bedrooms.

He immediately got up, alarmed. He ran up the stairs and checked on each of the states, not knowing which state had screamed.

Once he got to Rhode Island's room, he opened the door and gasped at the sight in front of him. Rhode Island was unconscious on the floor.

DC quickly ran over to him, checking to make sure he was okay. "Rhode Island?!"

Rhode Island didn't wake up, and DC started to panic and talk to himself, "okay, okay, calm down."

DC carefully picked Rhode Island up and put him on the bed. DC then started to pace the room.

He didn't know what was wrong with Rhode Island and it scared him. That's when someone knocked on the bedroom door. DC yelped, startled.

"Hey, I heard a scream in there. Is everything all right?" It was California.

DC didn't know how to answer, and when California got no answer, he entered the room. He noticed Rhode Island on the bed and a panicked DC.

"DC? What's going on?" California asked.

"I found him unconscious on the floor!" DC said.

"Oh, well, is he okay?" Cali asked, concerned.

            "I- I don't know!" DC said.

That's when Rhode Island started to stir. DC and Cali looked over at him as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Oh, thank god!" DC sighed of relief. "Rhode Island, are you okay?!"

"I- I think so." Rhode Island rubbed the back of his head.

            "What happened?!" DC asked, concerned.

"I- I don't know..." He looked at DC.

DC still seemed panicked and concerned. He felt as if he had a responsibility to keep the states safe and protected, and he failed.

"How do you feel?" DC asked.

"I... I feel fine... Just a little headache." Rhode Island responded, rubbing the back of his head.

            "Are you sure?" DC asked.

"Yeah, yeah... I'm a little dizzy too... but I'm okay." Rhode Island said.

"Do you need anything?" DC asked, concern for the state showing.

"No, I think I'm okay. Thanks, though." Rhode Island answered.

California shrugged it off and left the room. DC reluctantly left as well, but every five minutes or so, he would check back in on Rhode Island to make sure he's okay.

"DC, I'm fine," Rhode Island would say every time DC entered his room.

DC entered the room again, "hey, just checking in on you. You doing okay?"

"Why are you so worried? It's been hours." Rhode Island said.

"I know, I know, but I feel like I have a responsibility to keep you and the other states safe and I failed once, I can't fail again." DC said. He was clearly anxious and concerned.

"DC, I am completely fine. Just go try and relax." Rhode Island said, standing up and putting a hand on DC's shoulder.

"You're a hundred percent sure?" DC asked.

Rhode Island nodded. "Yes. Please, just go try and relax. I am fine. Everything is fine."

DC exhaled nervously, trying to calm himself down. "Everything is fine..." he repeated to himself.

"There you go." Rhode Island smiled at him. "I appreciate your concern, but I am really fine."

DC nodded, "okay. I'll trust you. For now."

Rhode Island chuckled a bit, "okay. Just go relax."

"I will." DC finally left him alone.
