2 months. It has only been 2 months since she died but it feels like 1 million years.

May died November 23 in a tragic car accident. Some drunk driver was swerving through the lanes when May was headed home from work. She wasn't able to get out of the way in time and he plowed into her car. I was at my internship at stark towers when I got the call. It was devastating.

Mr. Stark drove me down to the hospital to see her but by the time we got there she was gone. I didn't know what to do. My only family was gone, and I couldn't protect her, couldn't save her.

I have been staying at stark towers for the past 2 months while I figure out what to do next. I'm only 16 so I can't move out on my own yet but I do not want to be put into the system. School has been absolute mayhem. I was gone for a week and a half but no one knows why so a whole slew of rumors have been flying around school.

Every day is the same. I wake up in an unfamiliar place with the crushing weight of May's death on my chest. Then I get up and deal with the constant drudgery of school.

~~~Le time skip to a week later~~~

Today is Saturday so I was planning on hanging out with Ned and building our lego death star. That was until I got a text from Mr. Stark to meet him downstairs.

"Hey, Mr. Stark. What did you need?" I asked him.

"Hey, kid, I've got something I wanted to talk to you about," Mr.Stark said hesitantly.

I was curious about what he was going to say that made him this nervous.

"Shoot," I replied, anxious to hear what he was going to say.

" I know it has not been much time since your aunt passed and we could never replace her, but," He said, " pepper and I were wondering what you would say about us adopting you."

"What?" I ask not quite sure what was happening.

May was my only family for such a long time and now she was gone, but Mr. Stark and Mrs. Potts were my idols and have been taking such great care of me since the death.

"You do not have to if you don't want to it's just that we do not want you to have to go into the system, and pepper and I love you so much and want to see you succeed and..." Mr. Stark said hurriedly.

"I would be honored. This is just really big. May was amazing and can never be replaced but she would have wanted me to move on and be happy. You and Mrs. Potts have treated me so well and I have grown so close to you guys over the past year during the internship and even more so after her death." I say, interrupting Mr. Stark's speedy rant.

"Really? I want you to be certain that this is what you want before we make anything official," He says.

"I am sure, this is some of the best family I could ask for," I reply, truly meaning it.

"Alright kid well I will get the papers set up to be signed but in the meantime, Pepper made pancakes. Go eat, and then you can go over to Ned's," Mr. Stark says.

" ok, I love you," I say without thinking.

Crap! I didn't mean to say that. It just slipped out. What if he doesn't feel the same and hates me now?

"Love you too, kid," Mr.Stark said with a small smile on his face.

I will always miss May but maybe the world is not such a horrible place to be anymore. I have friends, a family, and so much life left to live.

A/N: So that was a bit less fluffy than I originally planned but it ends well. This is not the best writing but please have patience as this is my first work. Hope you liked it! Remember that even though the world may seem like a horrid dark place there will always be people who love you and want you to stay even if you do not know it.
