Consonance. A word that I learned over a period of time. It was one word that stuck to me, one word that would change me in the course of time.
It was a sunny afternoon and I was already late for my second job. What was the point of going anyways? I decided to wait for the bus to take me home. I turned my head slightly, gazing at the curve of this man's neck. Call me weird, but I honestly found it a bit interesting. The way his eyes followed the book that was open on his laps, and of course, the main music essential to tune out the rest of the world, earbuds. His character intrigued me, giving me the courage to approach him.
"Nice weather we're having, hm?" I said in a casual tone. No response. This time I decided to speak up, "What book is that called?"
Still no response. I felt awkward of course, but that feeling went away after being so glued to what he was really doing. I even leaned as close as I can to listen to the music that was playing in his ear. In that instant, he stood up and walked away, book and earbuds intact as I fell slightly against the bus bench. I prayed that he was at least occupied with something else instead of watching me fall embarrassingly.
I vowed to return to that spot everyday, in case he returns. I now had a mission I wanted to fulfill. This was much more worth than my second job.
