Chapter 7: Don't Dwell In The Past

Grayson's P.O.V

I start the car and pull out of the drive way. I glance at Brooklyn, she looks beautiful, with her wavy caramel hair hanging over her shoulders and her glowing hazel eyes shining in the sun light. She is the first girl to ever make me feel this way and it's pretty amazing.

"Um, where exactly are we going?" She asks distracting me from my thoughts

"Huh? Oh uh, there's- there's a skate shop where Ethan and I always go to change our wheels or buy new boards and stuff" I say keeping my eyes on the road

"Cool" she says leading to an awkward silence.

"Why do I feel like I've seen you before? Like before we officially met" Brook blurts out after a while

"I've been racking my brain trying to remember but I just can't" she continues

"Maybe because Ethan and I are kinda vine slash YouTube famous" I say grinning awkwardly

"Wait.......... What? You two are the little kids that did that Bromieomie vine right? HOLY GUACAMOL ITS ALL COMING BACK!!!" She yells and I stop at a red light and turn to face her.

"It took ya this long?" I ask sarcastically

"I don't really get on social media much that's probably why" she says relaxing in the seat

"That day I saw you I was surprised you didn't attack me, most other girls would" I say and the light switches green and I accelerate

"I'm not like most other girls" Brook says with a smirk

"No you aren't. You're better" I say and glance at her, she's smiling and blushing a light shade of pink

Not so long after, we were inside the skate shop looking at some long boards.

After a while of searching for the right one I found one I liked and bought it.

We head to the cashier and I hand over the board.

"Hey Gray, how's it going bro?" says Matt, one of the workers at the skate shop; he really looks the part of a skater dude, he has long dark brown hair with a black beanie on and a lip piercing on the left side of his lower lip.

"It's been great man, how bout you?" I ask in return while he checks out the board

"It's been chill around here; who's this pretty lady?" Says Matt with a smile from ear to ear and suddenly I feel the need to be jealous. I clench my jaw.

"This is Brook, my new neighbor" I say putting my arm over her shoulders

"Well, nice to meet ya Brook" Matt says and then stares at her for a while

"Nice to meet you too" she says in a low sweet voice making Matt snap out of his daze.

I finally pay and get the board.

"Great seeing ya Matt" I say with a smile while Brook and I walk out the door.

"What was that?" Brook says looking up at me

"What was what?" I ask in return

"The whole "oh ya she's my neighbor" thing" she says in a deep voice, mocking me

"You are my neighbor" I say with a laugh and she gives me some sort of a death/flirtatious stare.

Brook's P.O.V

Grayson parks in his drive way, we both hop out of the car and head inside.

We walk in and there's a girl sitting on the couch with sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt and she looks like she's 17 or 18 around there.

"Hey Cam, this is Brook our new neighbor" Grayson says pointing at me, she looks up from her phone and I wave shyly.

" *gasp* Oh my god, you're the girl Gray can't shut up about" she says and runs to me and gives me a friendly hug and I hug back.

"I'm Cameron, Ethan and Grayson's older sister. I've heard LOTS about you" Cameron says pulling away from the hug and I smile and glance at Grayson who is almost blushing as much as I am.

"Well we're gonna go now" Grayson says grabbing my hand and dragging me up stairs

"Great meeting you Cameron!" I shout slightly loud so she could hear me.

We make it to the top of the stairs and Grayson releases my hand. I follow him into a room I've never been in and there's only one bed so I'm guessing it's his room.

"Is this your room?" I ask curiously

"Yup, the other room where you came through the window was our hang out/sleepover room" Gray responds while jumping onto his bed and I sit next to him

"Nice" I say nodding my head. I feel Grayson staring at me but I just look around the room and suddenly I think about the encounter with Liam.

"It's getting dark I should probably go home" I say with a worried tone, while looking down at my hands.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" Gray asks concerned

"Yeah yeah, everything's fine" I say and I have this sudden urge to cry.

"Everything is obviously not fine" Gray says scooting closer to me and wrapping one arm around me and using the other to wipe away a few tears that managed to escape.

"It's just- ugh. I left Miami to leave my past and it ended up following me here" I say still not making eye contact with Gray.

"Well Brook, I think it's better to just forget about that douche and live in the present, even if that means he followed you here and you might see him around, don't worry about him, Eth and I got your back alright and trust me if he lays on finger on you, he's gonna have to deal with these bad boys once more" Grayson says flexing and showing off his biceps and I giggle through a few tears.

"Thanks Gray" I say looking up to him

"You're a great guy" I say, giving him a tight hug and he hugs me back even tighter.

"I'll always be here for you Brooke, always"

Gray walks me home and we say our goodbyes at the door.

I get ready for bed and quickly fall asleep as soon as my face touches the pillow.
