Mortimer's Handeemen was a kids show from the 1980s, made by Owen Gubberson, which was sometimes educational, but was most of the time just silly fun for children to watch. It taught morals, words, numbers, and much more! The show contained five main characters; Mortimer Handee, Riley Ruckus and her dog, Rosco, Nick Nack, and Daisy Danger
Aswell as some side characters who popped up every now and then, such as Kelly Cook and Nyx Trix!
And many more!
The characters would go on many wacky adventures, solve mysteries, and other such things! The show was rather popular with people around 5-12, however at some point in 1989, it got a spike in popularity with teenagers. The show was so popular, in fact, that they got a few spin-offs, those being Wacky Science with Riley Ruckus, The World Of Arts with NickNack, and Kelly's Kitchen, though they all were short-lived.
Sadly, around 1990, the show began to lose popularity. People said the puppets movements were too janky, and the plots were too boring. So, Owen, the creator, hit the books, tryna find ways to make his puppets more life-like. He thought of a way. A rather.. obscure way. You see, Mr. Gubberson always had a love for the occult and other such things, so, he brought his beloved puppets to life the best way he knew how. A simple spell, bringing out the souls he knew they had inside of them. They even acted how they were supposed to! And so, the show was continued for another season! However, one day, specifically October 4th of 1997, a fire broke out unexpectedly (gas leak), killing some of the staff and injuring most of the others, causing them all to quit. Filled with sorrow and guilt, Owen was forced to cancel the show. Obviously, the puppets were devastated, the thing they were created for wasn't a thing anymore, and they were useless.
In a fit of rage, Mortimer brutally killed Owen without even realizing what he did. The puppets didn't even know what death was, so they didn't know what to do when they saw their creator on the floor, scratch marks from Mortimer's sharp, clawlike fingers all over his arms, face and neck while covered in some deep red fluid, they didn't know what to do! They knew he was hurt, but they were under the impression he was just gonna sleep it off and then wake back up like nothing happened. So, Riley bandaged up his wounds, before sitting him down in his favorite chair in the studio, off in some room somewhere. Some say he's still sitting there.
Rotting.
