The Night Riders POV.
1 Day Earlier"How about we let them know where here bud?" The Night Rider asked patting Toothless, adjusting the tail allowing his dragon the flip over with ease and begin a free fall down towards the ships below.
Toothless cried out with his familiar Night Fury whistle. To others it is a thing of fear, but to him. If any thing it was like the exquisite music of the Valerie's.
"Let's do this bud!" He yelled out and adjusted the tail. Toothless spread out his wings and opened his mouth at the same time quickly sending multiple plasma blasts into a single ship puncturing its hull and collapsing its masts. With another quick adjustment of the tail the two turned swiftly into another direction and Toothless shot two more plasma blasts into a boat. Suddenly a violent white light accompanied with fire engulfed the center of the ship right around where Toothless's shots had penetrated.
There must had been a surplus of black-powder stored on the vessel and Toothless's shots must have ignited it. He tried not to think about the lives lost, even if they were hunter lives they were still... lives. In the end he ended up telling himself, 'they chose their side. It's their fault.'
But that didn't make him really feel better, it sounded exactly like what he would have told himself durning the original war to justify the blood on his hands.
The entire front half of the ship that had exploded was lifted partially into the air by the blast. It was drenched in flames, and it landed straight onto another ship catching it on fire as well.
The Night Rider stopped Toothless to observe the carnage of the burning ship. He knew all he was doing was torturing himself, but he couldn't pull away.
"Good thing there aren't any dragons on these ships." Heather said flying up beside him and Toothless.
"But there are people Heather." He said looking away from the flames and too her.
"They work for Dagur!" She exclaimed quickly. "Anything that happens to them is their fault, not ours."
The Night Rider looked at her in shock. Who was he talking to? The old Heather would have sympathized with him. She would never had said something like that, that cruel, that malicious.
"Those people have families Heather! Brothers, sisters, parents, wive's, children!" Be exclaimed his voice rising up.
"I had a family once too Night!" She snapped, her voice was emotional. "As far as I'm concerned all those people down there are just as bad as Dagur himself!"
He was speechless, not like he wanted to say anything anyway. Instead they just held a fierce and uninterrupted stare.
"The last ships are fleeing." He said after a while pointing down to the remaining ships who must have decided they had a better chance of survival if they ran instead of fought.
"Then it's time." Heather said looking over towards the flagship.
It was still idle. From where he was he could even see that they had even bothered to raise the anchor. Whoever was the acting captain of the ship was confident which made him nervous. But there was no way he was stopping now.
The two flew over to the ship and were instantly bombarded with intense enemy fire. The Night Rider and Toothless flew to the port side of the ship, Heather and Windshear took the other. The two dragons fired repeatedly severely damaging and dismantling the weapons upon the flagships deck. The crew aboard scrambled frantically trying to quench fires that had been ignited and to use whatever weapons they could find to try and fight back.
