Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version), [0:13] - He said, "let's get out of this town. Drive out of the city, away from the crowds."-
May 1994.
"Jen," David paused, turning his whole body to the side so that he can face her. "Do you want to go for a drive?"
Jennifer turned her head to face David as they sat beside each other on the couch where they had just done their last table read of their first week. After going through their last scene of the day, the crew packed up their stuff and went home except for the six castmates who wanted to spend more time with each other.
For all of them, this week has been nothing but overwhelming; the good kind. None of them had any high hopes as to how far and how long the show will go on, but after spending this week with one another, they knew that the friendships that were in the making would last more than any show could. They've only known each other for one week but during that week, they never felt like they were obligated get along. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they never felt anything else except genuine love for each other.
Shortly after Matthew, Courteney, Lisa, and Matt left the office to go to their homes, David and Jen found themselves alone with each other, enjoying each other's presence.
"Are you not tired?" Jennifer asked the older guy sincerely.
"Not enough that I can't pass up the opportunity to get to know you more," David said lightly. Jennifer did not want to admit it, but the man was incredibly charming and always knew what to say. He said, "let's get out of this town. Drive out of the city, away from the crowds."
Jennifer laughed out loud, "what crowds?" she said. "We haven't even filmed the pilot yet," the woman said with a smile. It was sweet of David to have confidence that there would be people crowding around them once an episode was filmed and aired.
"So?" David thought of what to say for Jennifer to say yes, "we don't have wait until there is. The opportunity presents itself and," David said while reaching in his back pocket to pull out car keys, "oh, look at that!" The guy said, making Jennifer chuckle while dangling the keys up in the air to show her that they already had a car. They both laughed before David put the keys back in his pockets, stood up, and held out both of his hands for Jennifer to take.
The woman beside him took his hands as he pulled her up from the comfort of the couch, "alright, Schwimmer," she said as she smiled at his gesture and followed his lead to his car.
As they walked to his vehicle, David realized that he has not thought this through. He was not yet familiar with California; he was clueless of the good restaurants within the distance of where they lived. Not that he was looking for something romantic, but he at least wanted her to have a good time with him tonight after convincing her to go out after what probably was a tiring week for her. He was so focused on getting her to say yes to spending time with him that he did not realize where or what they would be doing.
Once they reached his car, Jen opened the door to the passenger side and looked at David, who seemed like he was deep in thought. Jennifer tried to read him, which was not very hard, and figured he was possibly contemplating and subtly thinking of where they could go. Jen saw an opportunity for something.
"You want me to drive?" Jennifer said, already walking around the car to go to the driver's side.
David got back from his thoughts when Jennifer spoke. "This is embarrassing," David said shyly.
Jennifer laughed at how quickly he felt bad, "don't be! David. Seriously, it's not a big deal. I know where the good places are," she smiled his way that comforted him, "and trust me. I'm a good driver," she said, easing the tension that was only felt by David.
