Wind gusted swirls of beautiful snow over the dunes of ice that made up the frozen tundra of the Arctic. It carved intricate waves on the land, frozen in time. All was shades of white and blue, even the deep cracks in the ice where the water slowly carried it away day by day, inch by inch. She watched it all through frozen, lifeless optics, snow frosted to her pale rose pink armor, now faded to near snow white. Icicles hung from her audios and digits, which encircled a flare signal that never got to be deployed. Slowly the snow had covered her legs and slowly buried her, the Arctic claiming yet another victim of its unforgiving chill.
A polar bear lumbered past her, pausing only to sniff at her husk cautiously before continuing on its way, yet as it stepped by its paw pressed the button to set off the flare, which shot high into the sky, giving off a pitched distress signal only her kind could pick up.
The bear fled in terror, and she was once more alone...but not for long.
A day passed in that godforsaken place, when a swirling portal opened a few meters from where her frame lay and a tall, broad mech walked through accompanied by several Vehicons. His scarlet optics scanned the area before finally landing on her and his scarred dermas curled in a delighted smirk.
"It would seem fate is on my side today," he chuckled, walking over and kneeling by her figure. He pressed a digit against her frozen neck-cables to check for a pulse. Nothing.
"Excellent," he grinned and looked at his Vehicons. "Bring her with to the ship. She may no longer be online, but she will be an interesting experiment, especially for Airachnid."
The Vehicons nodded and hurried over, digging her body out of the snow and carefully lifting her onto their shoulders. Her joints and hinges cracked and creaked and her helm flopped down. They carried her through that portal and it closed behind them just moments before another opened in its place.
Three bots emerged, two mechs and a femme. The femme ran over to where there had been recent digging and growled,"We're too late! Damn those cons to the Pits!"
"You still failed to tell us exactly who sent the signal, Arcee," the elderly medic pointed out. "And why would the Decepticons be interested?"
Arcee stood up, clenching her jaw. "Only one bot I knew used signal flares. It was Opal. My sister."
"Well that explains your determination to find her," Ratchet shrugged. "But that didn't answer my other question."
"I honestly don't know why, but it's bad enough they have her!" Arcee's face-plates set to a determined frown.
"It could be to set a trap," the other mech, taller with red and blue armor, stated cautiously.
"Obviously, Optimus," Arcee stomped past them to the ground-bridge. "But that won't stop me from getting my sister back!"
"And there's no changing her mind," Ratchet sighed and he and Optimus followed her through.♡°~~~~~~~~~~~~~°♡°~~~~~~~~~~~~°♡
Years before....
"You fight like a femme!" The young mech jeered, pushing Arcee into a pile of trash.
"That's because we are fenmes, dumbaft!" Her sister, Opal, snapped furiously and right hooked the mech in the throat-pipe. "Bet that felt like a femme's punch too!"
He staggered back, gagging and she tripped him up with a pole. He hit the ground with a yelp, then froze as she swung it, but paused just in front of the center of his face-plates.
"If you bully my little sister again I will end you!" She snarled and slowly stepped away from him.
The mech scrambled to his peds and scampered off quickly, leaving the two alone.
"Where the frag did you come from?" Arcee huffed, taking Opal's servo to climb out the trash. "I thought you had plans with Orion?"
"Yes well...plans change," Opal shrugged, somewhat sadly.
"Ariel again?" Arcee raised an optic ridge as Opal hesitantly nodded. "She's stealing him right out from under your nose!"
"I know I know but...he seems so much happier with her," Opal sighed, then shrugged again and dusted off her armor. "Anyway, it turned out didn't it? Freed up some time for me to save your aft. Again."
Arcee snorted,"I had it under control."
"You were stuck in a dumpster, Cee," Opal smirked. "I don't think that qualifies as 'under control'."
"Depends on the perspective," Arcee scowled.
"Yeah yeah. Anyway, I met this interesting mech I think you'll really like," Opal grinned.
"Oh?" Arcee asked skeptically. "What's his name?"
"Tailgate," Opal grinned wider. "And he can teach you how to fight better than I can."
Arcee chuckled,"Well let's hope so."That was the last week of peace the sisters knew before Megatronus declared war on the High Council and anyone who opposed him and his followers.
Arcee and Opal were separated; Opal joined the Wreckers and Arcee joined a scout regiment. The last they saw each other was when Orion set out to find the Well of Allsparks and Opal went with him..."I'll be back soon, I promise!" Opal hugged Arcee tightly.
"I trust you," Arcee hugged back. "But just...stay safe. It's stressful enough knowing you're a Wrecker now."
Opal chuckled,"That's why Orion picked me to go with him. I'm one of the toughest out there!"
Arcee's face-plates softened,"I know but...just make sure you come home. I can't lose another sister."
Opal's optics saddened and she hugged Arcee again, tighter. "I know...I'll come back, little sis. I promise I'll come back."
Arcee nodded and watched her eldest sister leave with Orion. She fully believed Opal would return.
But she never did...Orion returned a Prime...but he was mum about what happened to Opal other than...
"She's not coming back."
