"But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased." - Psalm 115:3
God will do the things that pleases Him.
There are 2 truths in the Scripture. One is a terrifying turth & the other is a pleasant truth.
I am reminded of Pastor Paul Washer. He said in one of his videos regarding the Scripture and shared the most terrifying truth in the Bible, is that God is good.
Yes, he said that God being good is the most terrifying thing... that right there is not a typo. I believe in it too. Why? He answered those confused with his statement that why it was scary, because we are not good which means we are separated from God. God being just, holy, righteous and good and us being sinners, the total opposite of Who God is. Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2). And if we are separated from God then we are separated in all goodness & life that only Him can offer...
...if God is in light, life, and in heaven therefore weare in the opposite direction of where He is that would be in darkness, death and in hell...
"For the wages of sin is death..." -Romans 6:23
Also God is just (The soul that sinned shall die. Ez. 18:4). So to those disobedient people, unbelievers will bear the fruit of their labor... Hell will be there dwelling place for eternity, a suffering the never ends and where there is no glimpse of life rather eternal damnation. That indeed is terrifying knowing that God is good and we are not!
But I also mentioned that there's a pleasant truth in the Scripture as well, What do you think is it?
God is good. All the time God is good! That is the pleasant surprise to us... Why? Because in Who God is, He is good, abounds in mercy/compassion, & love, He is saving us. Giving us a salvation for us all to not be in hell rather be in heaven with Him Thru His Son Jesus Christ.
" For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16
That is the good news to all of us, God intends to save us all from the fire that will never be quench that awaits in hell.
"Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." -1 Timothy 2:4
Our salvation is possible because of Him & in Him alone because He is good.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9
Clearly we cannot save ourselves. We can't even if we want to... we just can't. And only Jesus can save us,
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." -Acts 16:31
Because our God is so good that He thought of a way to save us and that way is Jesus, He is the way, the truth & the life (John14:6). And by faith in Him we are saved. But this doesn't mean we don't need to do anything or that we can go back to our sinful ways, it doesn't mean like that because what God wants is that for His people to repent for them to live that is to turn away from sin and starts to live a life just like Christ.
There's a movie i saw recently, Amazing Love (Story of Hosea) How Hosea & Gomer's love story is a reflection of God's love towards us. Gomer being a whore, as mentioned in the Scripture and us, sinners being like her in a sense that we are filthy in eyes of God because of our sins yet He loves us any way. Aside from that, what i like about the movie is that the thought that us being human can't love a Gomer, or sinner but the Jesus in you can love a Gomer, who is out in the world today, that Gomer can be your enemy, the most unloving person, an addict, a rapist, a theft, a bully, a whore, he or she can be anybody, ...we can never really love them unless we have Jesus in our hearts. Only thru Him we can do good works though I've said it earlier we are not saved by good works,
"We are not doing good works to be saved rather we do good works because we are saved." -Unknown
Our good works is only an outward expression of our faith and an indication that we are saved.
Isn't God good? He has saved us by just believing in the One He hath sent for us all to be save. God is indeed worthy to be praise, worship & be glorified in our lives because of Him, in who He is.
God is indeed good. All the time God is good!
To God be the glory forever and ever. Amen!
