While they organized the documents into piles to be put away, the two made small talk. Before they knew it, they'd finished the whole desk worth of papers.

"Looks like we finished. Do you want to put these into specific drawers or folders?"

Wilbur nodded and moved his chair to the filing cabinets behind him.

Schlatt moved the piles by handing them to Wilbur, who put them into spots in the filing cabinets.

Once they finished, a comfortable silence hit the room, that is until Wilbur spoke.

"You said you've already started writing letters about the election, correct?"

"Yeah." Schlatt turned to look out the window. "I have a few already written, a few I need to finish but-"

"Could you finish the ones you need to finish, send them to whoever you're sending them to, and then come back to me with a list of who all is getting a letter? I can gauge who will be getting the information that way and then get started on making flyers and then go to making propaganda and such."

Schlatt turned to Wilbur, but was surprised at how ready he was to hold the election. "Yeah I can do that, are you gonna be okay?"

Wilbur stood from his chair, pushing it into his desk before walking over to the window where Schlatt was standing. "I'll learn to be. My nation comes first, if it needs a new President, that's what it needs."

Schlatt sighed. "You know it's okay to not be okay right?"

A silence fell between the two of them.

"You don't have to be perfect. There will be times that hurt or times where you're not okay. But god dammit that's part of being a human, Wil."

Schlatt moved to put his chair back to where he found it.

"It's human to be scared or upset. You're not a robot, Wilbur. You're human, with human emotions and a human heart. If you don't take time to run through those emotions then you'll never get through anything. You'll get stuck with all these bottled up emotions"

Schlatt paused to look back to Wilbur, who had his eyes focused on something far beyond his presidential duties. Schlatt walked back over to Wilbur and put a hand on his shoulder.

"And Wilbur, you've got support you know. I'm gonna be by your side forev- for as long as I can be. You've also got Tommy, your son, a bunch of people in your nation."

He could feel Wilbur relax a little, taking a deep breath.

"Thanks Schlatt."

Schlatt breathed out in relief that Wilbur hadn't caught part of his sentence. He smiled and patted Wilbur's shoulder. "Of course. You're gonna be okay if I go work on those letters?"

"I can message if I need."

"Alright, I'll be right here if you need anything." With that, Schlatt left the office, waving to Wilbur as he did.
