Uglydolls: Perfect Role Rules

So this is the first book I plan to keep public for real, no excuses this time. I've written some others in the past, but they either weren't very good or I backed out because I was afraid of other people commenting on my work. Today this will change, because I felt the obligation to fix a certain movie that I felt had more potential.

And that happens to be the Uglydolls movie.

I loved the concept, some characters were meh while Lou and Nolan were like YEAHHH for me, but of course not all movies can be flawless. I didn't like how fast the pacing was, nor did I care much for Moxy or her friends (Uglydog and Luckybat were the only two I enjoyed.)...and I know it's a popular opinion when I say Lou deserved better. I believe that if more thought and added time (Maybe another half hour?) was put into the movie, it might've made me feel more satisfied at least.

Anyway, this isn't a book for critiquing movies (That would be a good idea for book now that I'm thinking about it lmao-). It's me kinddd of rewriting it? It might end up being too long for an actual movie and more of a series, though that's not necessarily a bad thing as long as there's some consumable content for the fans out there right?

Well I'll tell you what you can expect in these early stages of development, perhaps that'll gain some interest.

•Disclaimer: I do not own Uglydolls, not the universe or the canon characters. But...the background characters that are named by me and/or completely new characters that are inserted into this story are mine. Well, for the background characters their names and personalities are what I own, not the designs. And since this is sort of a rewrite based on events that happened in the movie, made up backstories and lore will also be mine.

•I will not follow some of what is considered canon in the movie, I might gain inspiration from the actual Uglydolls that existed before the animation to make the characters more interesting than they were before. In general, the personalities wouldn't change too drastically from the movie's portrayal. I'd say that certain characters like Ox might have a noticable change though.

•Both Lou and Nolan will be the protagonists? They might switch POVs in the middle of the chapter or have a whole chapter dedicated to them. My best friend suggested for me to make Lou the protagonist and I loved the idea, but then I thought that maybe Nolan taking the spotlight too might also be interesting.

•There might be some more world building involved when it comes to how dolls operate differently from humans, the creators didn't expand too much on it in the movie which means I kinda have to come up with these things myself. At least it sounds fun!

•This will be more focused on the Institute of Perfection rather than Uglyville, and I'm surprised because usually I love nonhuman characters but in this case, the first setting is where stuff is really gonna go down.

•I don't think the story will have things like cursing or darker themes because it just doesn't fit with this particular universe imo. It will also feel unnecessary? The most that will happen is probably innocent romance and characters with deeper backgrounds that will be explored more thoroughly.

•Moxy and the other Uglydolls might not appear much, however I do have an idea in mind that will make them relevant in the middle or towards the end. They kinda have to exist anyway lmao-

•Yes, I will include new dolls that didn't have much of a presence or didn't even exist in the main story.

•It's very unlikely that you have to see the movie to understand the fanfiction, but you can watch it if you choose to do so. If you're planning to go into this with no spoilers though, I'd suggest to avoid it for now if you haven't seen it? Lou and Moxy would definitely be revealing for sure.

•I am open to constructive criticism as long as it's not a hate comment (For example, insulting me isn't gonna be tolerated.), and I'll warn you that my writing style tends to be a bit in the repetitive side when it comes to which words to use? Don't worry, I'll try my hardest to make sure you don't see it too much even if I can't guarantee it.

•I can't exactly give you a proper update schedule, so I'll say to try being patient with me instead. I love procrastinating for some reason and it even annoys me sometimes.

I think that's all I needed to say? Welp, I hope you're excited for it! I can't wait to finally attempt finishing a story. I seriously don't know how other authors manage to do that-
