Chapter 20:

"Snake," I said, my patience growing thin, "I don't know what to do. She's technically her grandmother. Even if we've dodged a bullet with Steven, she's going to try something. I know it."

Snake sighed, climbing under the covers, "well we don't know that for sure yet. We need to just stay calm and handle situations as they come."

"You just don't get it," I huffed, "you may not be that stressed cause she's not your "daughter" but she is MINE. And I'm not going to give this bitch the chance to take her from me."

Snake gave me a glare but kept his voice calm, "Sophi you know that isn't true. Harley is my daughter. She may not be my flesh and blood but dammit she might as well be. I would do anything to protect that girl and you."

I turned off my lamp and rolled over on my side, "then prove it."

Snake growled, I knew I was pushing his buttons.

"Sophi. Steven isn't here because he is dead. I fucking killed him. And I will do it again if I have to. I will protect Harley, even if I have to kill."

I slowly rolled over and looked at him, "you killed him?"

He nodded. I sighed and sat up.

"Snake why?"

"I told you when I met you I would do anything to protect the people I loved and you decided you wanted to be part of it."

"I know this. And I've been through this with you before. I remember Battlestar. And I remember what happened. But I thought you would stop when you had Harley to care for."

"Sophi, we don't speak about Battlestar. And dammit this was me protecting Harley!"

"Snake, you spent two years in jail. Just awaiting a trial. We fought for you and almost lost you. How do you know this Steven thing won't come back and bite you in the ass? Harley and I can't sit here and wait while you do 25 to life. We need you."

Snake wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close to him, "I promised I wouldn't leave either of you and I won't break that promise."

I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes. I hoped he was right.

So this is the end. But I am going to write the prequel. It's up now. The sequel will finally end this, as Snake and Sophi face weddings plans, child raising, possible murder and a shocking twist none of you will see coming.

I will post it after the prequel is over. The prequel won't be as long as the main story.
