It came easily in your presence/the silence in which you presented/it was the pendulum swinging the other way/in your teen-aged rage.
The abuse in which you accused of me/was really a projection/that fit neatly under your thumb.
There was nothing to do/nothing to say/that could swing the pendulum the other way/besides admitting that I was wrong.
Oh/how I hated the look you gave/when I apologized that way/and yet you continued to blubber out silence.
There was nothing I'd rather do/than sit/and not hear/your voice tear/through the ever growing comfort of/the silence.
