Dear Mom and Dad, it has been so long since I've been able to write a letter but since we've been able to hold the line here for a couple of months...I now have a chance. I wish there was much more I could say...I hope Shiro isn't missing me too much, I hope this war ends soon...I miss the village and of course Old Man Teuchis cooking anyways I should get going. I love and miss the both of you very much, and don't worry too much, my comrades have my back just like I have theirs were like family here and I just know I'll be home soon...Love Yuto
Yuto quickly rolled up the scroll and began to walk out towards the mailing tent, after dropping off his letter he walked over to his teams campsite which was a couple of yards away from the main outpost. Once arriving he could see his comrades/teammates, the bright bubbly Ayame and the silent stoic Jakara who was always a stickler for the rules. Behind them overlooking a large pass that divided the Great Nation of Kanto and the Mighty Chubu Region was their squad leader Hibikari.
This was known in the Land Of Fire as Team 49, they had been on 26 missions together this next one would make it their 27th. A younger squad than most, but nonetheless they proved their worth during their 15th mission, it was a simple escort mission no higher than a D-Rank that quickly turned into their first ever A-Rank mission. This would mark their second A-Rank mission which is only ever usually given to Jonin but since this team had shown the most growth and spirit alongside of course Konohagakures forces being spread thin...there is no other team left.
Yuto took a seat near Ayame and he asked with a slight smile on his face as he kept trying to be a light in the dark world around them"Anything cool happen yet?". He waited for her answer as it looked like she was in the middle of packing some tools into her shinobi pack in preparation.
Ayame stopped as she turned and returned the smile being another light, together they could brighten the darkest of caves with their smiles "We're getting ready for Hibikari-Sensei to lead us down the path to the Canyon to set up a new position near the border, since we're going to be part of an ambush to take the pass."
Yuto nodded and then asked another question as it was his nature to be curious and inquisitive "Did you send any mail home yet?" He began to brush his hair to place it in a bun while Ayame walked around him to help. Ayame made sure to be gentle when brushing his hair back and helping him wrap it in a tight bun. "I have and you really need to learn how to fix your hair, I won't always be doing this Yuto." She teased and giggled before pointing out "Jakara hasn't written a thing, I wonder if he's ok..."
Yuto looked to their comrade who was still looking towards the canyon almost like a hawk searching for it's next meal; speaking of meal Yuto was very hungry and began to let his eyes wander around to spot any food. He finally laid his eyes on some bowl that was set aside for him "I need to eat and gather my stre-"
Jakara interrupted and looked at him slightly annoyed "We need to get moving, Hibikari-Sensei is giving the order. Stop playing around and get up both of you, we have work to do." He picked up the bowl and tossed it to the side and started to walk. Yuto darted his eyes and rolled them "What a jerk, he could've at least handed me the bowl instead of wasting the food like that." He had a small rivalry or at the very least an issue with Jakara sometimes. Ayame patted his shoulders and said
