Outlaws (Jean x Reader)

Explosion

The camp was busy as everyone scattered around. You had already loaded all your guns, placed your revolver in it's holster and secured your rifle on your back. Armin and Hange were sitting with each other, their faces stern as they watched everyone get ready.

You stood patiently by your horse, stroking your hand down his dark mane. "You ready kid?" The stoic man snuck up on you as he cleaned off his shotgun. "As ready as I can be, Levi." You just smiled as you watched him get on his horse.

You had to hold in your laugh as you watched the short man hoist himself onto the large horse. "You any good at taking care of locks?" Levi turned to you as he rode around the group of horses. "How do you think I got all that money from the last bank I robbed?" You remembered back to your last solo mission, which you broke into all the safes.

"Good. You and Mikasa will be in charge of that." Levi trotted away as the others began to join you guys. You grabbed onto your horse and pulled yourself up, sitting yourself on the saddle. "We've gone through this plan enough, so even must know what they're doing?" Erwin stood at the front of the group, sitting tall on his elegant, white horse.

"Reiner and I will be distracting the local lawmen, while the rest head to the bank. Avoid using explosives at all costs." Erwin's eyes looked over to Connie as he sat there uncomfortably. "It was one time." He muttered under his breath, earning a giggle from Jean.

"We have no time to waste." Erwin held his fist up and began heading out of the camp. The group followed close behind him, you were in the middle of the formation, right between Mikasa and Eren. You kept your eyes on Reiner and Eren, watching their every move.

The group followed down the dirt trail that was just outside a swampy area. You looked at the outskirts of the swamp to see the heads of gators peeking above the water. The last thing you needed was a gator chomping at your ankles

"We're getting close! From here Reiner and I will distract the lawmen!" Erwin held his hand up and signaled Reiner to follow him. The two left the group, making a slight left as the town came into view.

You felt your stomach toss and turn as you noticed how big the town was. It was definitely different from Paradis, even Marley. Most of the buildings were stone or brick and dozens of people wandered the streets. "What was Erwin thinking, this place is huge." Eren questioned as the formation slowed down.

You kept a cool head as you horses trotted through the streets. "Just follow me and keep your heads low." Levi whispered to the group as he led the way through the stone streets. It wasn't hard to miss the bank. It was a tall stone building with pillars in the front of it.

"We'll wait for Erwin's-" Levi turned to the group, but there was a large explosion in the distance. "I guess that was the signal." Connie said as he pointed to the smoke coming from further away. The lawmen in the area began fleeing towards the smoke, leaving the bank area empty.

"Let's go." Levi hopped off his horse and everyone followed. You kept your hand on your revolver as you all entered the bank. "Everyone! This is a robbery!" Levi grinned as he kicked open the door and the few customers inside let out a squeal. "Jean, take care of the bank teller." Levi pointed to the man cowering behind the desk.

Jean jumped over the counter, holding his gun to the older man. "Lead us to the safes, or this won't end well for you." Jean grabbed the guy's collar and dragged him towards the door behind the counter. You could see the guy visibly shaking as Jean kept his gun close to his head. "I-I don't know the-" The guy opened the door to the safe room and Jean hit him with the back of his gun. "Go ahead ladies." Jean motioned into the room and you and Mikasa quickly entered.

You looked behind you as you sat down in front of one of the large safes. The bank teller was lying unconscious on the floor, a puddle of blood forming underneath his head. You shook your head and focused again on the safes.

It was a combination lock, easy. You let out a deep breath as you held your ear close to the lock as you turned it counter-clockwise. You slowly turned it, waiting to hear the click from the inside. You smiled as you heard the first click. You began to twist it clockwise, waiting for the second click. Once you could hear that, you turned it back to the left, until you heard the final click and the safe popped open.

You grabbed the stacks of cash sitting in the safe, shoving them in your satchel. You looked at Mikasa, to see her successfully pop open one safe as well. You moved onto the next safe, using the same technique as before. You could see Jean in the doorway, keeping an eye on you as you cracked into the next safe.

"Shit! Hurry up! They got lawmen coming down the street!" Connie shouted as you felt your heart begin to race. "Stay focused Y/N, you're fine." Jean said as you finally opened the last safe, grabbing the last of the cash and securing your satchel.

You hopped up with Mikasa, heading out of the room to the lobby of the bank. "Come out!" You could hear the lawmen scrambling outside, their blue uniforms running past the windows. "Oh fuck." You cursed as you hid behind the counter, pulling your gun from it's holster.

"Looks like we're shooting our way out of this." Eren mumbled as he kept his gun raised to the citizens in the corner. "Wait, they have Erwin." Levi peeked out the window and your heart dropped. "What?" You came from behind the counter, running towards the window to get a better look.

About a dozen lawmen lined the street in front of you, and one of them was holding onto Erwin, a gun pressed to his temple. "What are we going to do, Levi?" Jean asked as he joined you at the window. "Come on you good for nothing criminals! You can come out here and surrender, or cost your leader's life!" The man holding onto Erwin yelled and Levi twitched beside you.

"We can't lose Erwin." Connie said as he squished in between you and Jean. You watched as the lawman let go of Erwin, pushing him towards the bank. "No!" You yelled out as the lawman lifted his gun, pulling the trigger and sending multiple bullets into Erwin. Levi's fist slammed into the glass and you jumped back.

Erwin's body fell to the ground, his limbs twitching, but then finally relaxing and his body going limp.

Your eyes were wide as you watched the blood begin to look around Erwin, his blonde hair becoming red. "Fuck." Levi held up his shotgun, aiming it at the lawmen. "Just run for it!" Levi shouted as he shot through the glass, sending glass shards everywhere. Jean grabbed your hand, running out of the door with you, his gun raised as the firing started.

It became chaos as both sides shot at each other. You kept your head low as you shot at the lawmen. Jean continued to pull you through the alleyways of the town, heading towards where the horses were hitched. You turned around to see Connie following right behind you, but no one else in sight.

"Don't worry, they'll find their way back!" Jean yelled back at you as you approached the horses. Jean let go of your hand, letting you climb onto your horse. You held onto the reins as you followed Jean and Connie out of the town. You pressed your stomach to your horse, staying as low as you can as you raced out of the town. There were still gunshots as you escaped the town and back into the plains.

"Holy shit. What the fuck happened to Reiner?!" Connie called to you and Jean as you raced back towards the camp. "Either that fucker got captured or he's dead." Jean gritted his teeth as he led you guys back down the trail.

"Let's just focus on getting back to camp." You were breathing heavily as you recalled everything that had just happened. Erwin's body twitching on the ground, sliding over his blood on the streets.

It was hard to calm yourself down. Your leader was dead and the last thing you expected was for Levi to make a rash decision like he did. You started nearing the camp and the tears began to trickle down your face, scared to face the reality that everyone may be dead as well.
