I really couldn't help but marvel at my baby. I really had a baby last night. This moment felt so surreal. But here he is, all 6 pounds and 14 ounces of him. When he opened his eyes, I did see that he has the same gray eyes that I have, but other than that he looks just like his dad. He sincerely got his junior, the name and all. I was sitting in the bed burping him for a minute. He had slept so much that I was pleased to see he might just be a child that sleeps through the night. He came at night, so this surprises me, but thus far he's a good baby for real. Not to mention Tony couldn't stop holding him or staring at him. It was by far one of the most heartwarming things, but at the same time I knew he was gonna be spoiled for sure. After he burped I turned him back around and looked at him. The drugs definitely had me out of it last night, but now I was seeing everything clearly.
"Hey baby girl, is he awake?" Karen said as she walked into the room and hugged Tony. I looked down at him then her.
"Yes, he's awake." I told her.
"Aww can I hold him?" she asked as she started to hand sanitizer on her hands and rub it in good. I did pass him over to her. She smiled big when she looked at him and he opened his eyes big when she started talking to him. It was definitely a Hallmark moment with grandma and grandson. I'm actually thankful that we were able to patch our situation up before I had him. She may not have been the best mother to me, but she definitely could make it up by being the best grandma to my son. I wouldn't deny her that unless she shows me why I shouldn't. She sat down with him and then Elizabeth walked in as well.
"Aww look at him." she said as she instantly looked at him. "Hello everybody." she said.          "You want to hold him?" Karen asked her. It was one of those moments we weren't sure of how it would pan out. But they actually have been coexisting well. Elizabeth also used the hand sanitizer before she took him into her arms. She looked so happy.
"Aww he has his mommy's little smile." she said as she held him.
"Yes, you remember that? Toya always had that lil smirk on her face as a child."
"Yes, how could we forget?" I was happy that there was no ill feelings between these two for real. The strongest female influences I've had my entire life meant a lot to me and here they are being grown women about the situation at hand. This was beautiful.
"Can I get a picture of yall?" Tony asked as they bunched together holding baby Anthony. I was glad he was able to snap a picture of that moment.
"We got room for one more?" Tony's mom asked walking in. This was actually during her shift, but I knew she'd be in to see him.                                     "Of course darling, get in here." Karen said as she stood behind them and they all looked down at the baby when Tony took the picture.                  "Oh yeah, we gotta frame that." Tony said as he showed me the picture.
"Proud grannies." I said and me and Tony laughed at that.
"Ummm no, I'm Glamma." Karen said and we laughed at her. I can't deal.
"Yeah, I'll have to decline that and be Nana." Tony's mom said. They both killin me.
"I'm Mema, so I don't know what Toya talking about." Elizabeth said.
"Baby boy gone be confused." Tony said and we all collectively laughed at that.
"He will be because then we have Iris and her shenanigans." I said.
"Lord, that child is different. But she adores that lil boy." Elizabeth said.
"She's a little eccentric, but babygirl is alright with me." Tony's mom said.
"I don't know yall, I think I like her." Karen said and we all burst out laughing at that one. "What?" she said innocently.
"You just would." Tony said and we continued laughing.
"Her energy though, you gotta love her." I said.  And everyone just nodded at that. Baby was different for sure, but that's my ace though for real.
"Baby, I'm gonna go take a shower and change and whatnot while you got some people here with you. I'll be back." Tony said to me as he leaned down to kiss me. "I'll bring you back some real food." he said and everybody started laughing. "What?" I said to them.
"He knows you so well." Elizabeth said.
"Yes the only person I know who eats nonstop and doesn't gain a pound." Karen said and they all laughed.
"Whatever, I be hungry yall."
"Baby, I don't think that's hunger, that's gluttony. But we love you anyway." Tony's mom said and everyone laughed again, hell I laughed as well.       "That's okay, I still love her anyway." Tony said in my defense.
"Of course you do, because you're no better mijo." his mom said.
"So you mean Glamma's man is doomed?" Karen said as the 3 of them burst out laughing.                  "I'll leave you with the Grand Trio." he said as he exited the room still laughing at them. I just smiled.
"Well I can't stay too long since there are other patients, but you know I will be dropping in throughout the shift mija." Tony's mom said as she kissed my cheek. "See you later ladies." she said.
"See you later mama." I said as she walked out and on down the hall.
"Where's Maxwell?" I asked Karen.
"He's in the waiting room Love."
"He could've came on back. I mean, I'm sure he'll be a part of the baby's life as well." I said to her and she smiled.
"Well in that case, let me go get him." she said as she walked away.
"He's such an adorable baby. You are blessed even more beyond measure." Elizabeth said to me.
"Thank you. Also thank you for being here. That does mean a lot to me for real. I don't know if any of this is unco..."
"Honey hush, I'm not bothered by any of this. As long as I'm here for you, nothing else matters."
