"I want you to sit in with Onyx. Listen to her and how she bodies a beat and pull from that same intensity." I told Cinco as he sat down at the board with Rodney and listened to Onyx blaze the mic right quick. Cinco was good, real good. But he had no umph for real. I needed him as the package deal like the rest of my artists were. We sat there and let her freestyle for 3 minutes before I had motioned for her to cut it and she came back out the booth. Cinco stood up and clapped for her. I mean without a doubt shorty always deserved a standing ovation, but I needed him to see the larger picture for real. "Right, she earned that. She works hard and her goal is to kill everything she touch. My girl over here gone eat. Are you though Cinco?" Rodney asked him.
"Yeah." he said confidently.
"Then show us then." I told him and he went ahead and entered the booth. Rodney played the track and Cinco vibed to it for a second before he took a deep breath and let it go. "When you look at me you see a 15 year old kid with dreams
I look at me and tell myself I gotta get it by any means
Brother X coming through me, like the second month of the year
But I'm too young to become history already, but I don't fear
These bullets that fly, because I know I gotta bust back
Another day another dolla, another fiend, another mother on crack
Peep the cycle, the addicts and the dealers eventually switch roles
Like the trick and the prostitute, tell me who the real hoes..."
"Nice!" Onyx said as he kept going.
"Let me find out putting them in here with you is what gets em going." I said as I high-fived her. Something about these cats getting shown up by a female makes them dig deeper. I needed that. Just then I looked and saw the artist I was waiting on walk by. I motioned for him to enter in the room. He walked in while Cinco finished up.
"Cochise?" I said as he walked to me.
"Yeah, you C-Money?" he asked me and I nodded. He came by and shook my hand. He seemed real thuggish to be a singer. "Nice to meet you." he said.
"Likewise. So Riek told me you got some pipes bruh." I said.
"With all due respect, the pipes got me." he said confidently.
"Okay, okay. I like that in him." Onyx said as Cinco took a seat.
"You know you gotta show and prove talking like that." Rodney said to him. Dude busted right out into song right then and there. And he went for the jugular singing You by Jesse Powell. When I tell you dude hit them notes though. I was shocked.
"I got goosebumps." Onyx said.
"Me too." Rodney said as he turned to me. Man...Riek definitely got me hip.
"No lie, I'm not even a R&B guy, but that bank right there. Bruh ate that." Cinco said and I had to agree with that.
"So what you think Boss man?" Cochise asked me after he finished.
"Oh yeah, we gone do business for sure." I said because I couldn't pass him up at all. "Bruh you give me Mo3 vibes." Cinco told him as they shook.
"I appreciate that. Cinco, right?" he said.
"You know me?" he asked him.
"You do the battles at the park. My sister be out there battling." he said.
"Shakes your sister?" he asked and he nodded at that. "Yeah she cold on the mic for sure." Me and Rodney looked at each other on that one. "She is nice. She was my biggest competition in that virtual battle for real. I'm not even gonna lie, she almost got me. Mad respect for shorty." Onyx said.
"So where she at?" Rodney asked beating me to the punch for real.
"She's around." Cochise said. "Bring her with you next time. I'm all open to hear her." I told him.
"For sure. I was just hearing the hype about you taking on young teens." Cochise said to me. "How you hear that?" I asked him.
"My sisters friend Keyz said you opened it up to her too." I was confused.
"Keisha?" I said to clarify that.
"Yeah. Little Man's sister." he said.
"You mean Influx." Kev said as he walked into the room. "What's up Chise?" he said as they shook hands and whatnot.
"What's good bruh? Influx, huh?"
"It was that time G. C already heard you sing?" he asked him.
"Man...did I? Instantly know we gotta work. That's real. We got the females for sure, but the only other singer we have for males is Paradox." I pointed out.
"Is he really a singer though?" Onyx asked. We all laughed at the question.
"Kinda. He's like Drake...6lack even. He kinda a singer." Cinco said.
"I'm a R&B nigga with a Hip Hop core." me and Kev said together and laughed. Man we listened to a lot of 6lack cuz we done here in that zone with him.
"Whatever." Onyx said with a slight laugh. "I guess I'll accept that." she said.
"Oh so yall romance is real?" Cinco said.
"Uh oh youngin thought he had an in." Cochise said and we all laughed.
"Alright fellas, let me excuse myself." she said walking out and we laughed harder.
"Just to be clear all these females are taken on the label." I told Cinco.
"So I do wanna be upfront with some shit with yall." Cochise said. We all turned to him to listen.
"What's up G?" I asked him.
"I'm gay." he said and it for real surprised me because he didn't have an ounce of feminine in him. "I know Kev knew already, but I just be real because sometimes that changes shit." "We don't give a fuck about your sexual orientation bruh. As long as you working, we all good." Rodney told him as they shook hands. I shook hands with him too.
"Yeah bruh, you good G. We ain't like that around here. Family is family. Most of the females into women too. It's all good." he nodded at that and then chilled out with us.
