In an alternate universe, where trolls and humans have lived together for centuries, Jade Harley starts her first day in public school. She's had friends online for years, but never in person. She enters school with a strong heart, but her social skills are weak.
[ Friday 7:15 AM, 8th Grade Hallway ]
Jade had her head high and a big smile on her face. Her tail and ears were moving happily with awareness. Looking at all the other trolls and humans, none of them had animal traits like her.
Nepeta looks around for the new student. One of her moirails, Feferi, had told her about every new student that came. How did Feferi know? She was the student principal, of course! Wandering down the corridors she glanced left and right. She saw something very unique! "This is perfect!" she thought to herself.
Following the pair of white, fluffy, flickering ears, Nepeta dashed around trolls and humans. Suddenly, she was face to face with a girl taller than her. She gazed at her face with wonder. She made a big toothy grin. "Hi! I'm Nepeta! You must be Jade. My friend, Feferi, told me about you!" Jade delayed a response.
"What am I supposed to say?" Jade didn't have words to say to the troll with small blue cat ears. Nepeta didn't mind though. She stood smiling waiting for a response. "My name- I'm Jade." She uttered, still in astonishment that someone like her had animal ears. "Well, nice to meet you, Jade!" Nepeta's ears flickered with friendliness. Jade could tell she'd have a friend
"Oh-! I almost forgot to mention my friends over there! The one with the ram horns is Aradia, and the one with the bracelets an' stuff is Feferi!" Nepeta pointed over to her moirails excitedly. The two saw and waved at Jade. Jade formed a smile on her face. Nepeta gripped Jade's wrist as tight as she could and ran over to the other two girls.
"Feferi, Aradia!" Nepeta was practically screaming at the two girls. "This is Jade! Isn't she cool? Look at her cute little glass, her fluffy doggy ears, and her eyes!" Jade's face became a light shade of red as she chuckled a bit. "Hi, Jade! I'm Feferi, the school's student principal! You've met me before!" Feferi shook Jade's hand with pride and happiness. "Greeting, Jade. My name is Aradia Megido. It's a pleasure to meet you." The tallest troll looked down a bit at her while shaking Jade's hand lightly.
"So, what do you guys think of her! Or them, him- whatever you go by!" Nepeta swayed back and forth while presenting Jade to them. "She/They..." She muttered. "Oh, okay!" Nepeta shook her head. "They seem like they could be an enjoyable addition to our group," Aradia spoke in a monotone voice. "She's perfect! And look at her cute little ears!" Feferi reached out and lightly touched them. "Oh wow!" Jade was looking at the ground with an awkward smile.
"Since it's your first day and all, we can tour you around the school! Don't worry about getting in trouble, I can take care of it!" Feferi looked as if she'd seen a miracle. "Uhm. Yes, please. I'd like a tour!" Jade spoke with a happier tone. "All right! Just follow me!" Feferi walked in front of the other three girls and started walking. Jade stood still for a moment, trying to process that they made a few friends.
Suddenly pulled out of her thoughts, Nepeta grabbed her hand once again and said, "Here, Jade! Let me hold your hand so that you don't get lost!" A light shade of green was seen on the troll's face as she led Jade behind her.
[ Friday 2:55, 8th-grade courtyard ]
The small group of friends sat happily on one of the benches in the courtyard. "Thank you. I'm very happy that you guys showed me around!" Jade beamed happily. "If you'd like, you can come over to my hive, we've planned a sleepover earlier this week! I don't think my lusus would mind if one more person came over!" Feferi was talking with her hands while jumping out of her seat. "That would be nice!" Jade replied. "This will be awesome!" Nepeta exclaimed.
[ Friday 10:35, Feferi's Hive ]
The girls were watching a rom-com movie. Feferi had chosen it. Feferi and Aradia sat on the floor, Feferi laying in Aradia's arms. Jade and Nepeta were on the couch, Nepeta curled up on Jade's lap like a cat. Nepeta was purring as Jade scratched behind her ears. Feferi rubbed her thumb across Aradia's hand. Everything in that moment was perfect. They had pizza, did their makeup, everything girls would usually do at a sleepover.
Soon enough, Jade and Nepeta dozed off. The movie had ended as Aradia and Feferi stood up. "Aradia! Come here!" Feferi whispered with excitement. "Aww! That's adorable. Hold on-" Aradia paused to pull out her disposable camera. She held it in the perfect place and clicked the button as quietly as she could. After the picture printer, she shook it. Both gazing at the picture, Feferi muttered to Aradia, "In the album?" "In the album," Aradia replied.
