"Alistair Violent, a mission, directly sent by Mr. Bancroft himself. Your dad has approved for you to have this. He believed you'll greatly benefit from this." The young secretary spoke rather annoyedly and handed him the envelope.
He couldn't help but stare at the envelope before reluctantly grabbing the golden-colored envelope. All he could think of was that it was to have the details of the mission he was to complete.
It was likely he wasn't ever going to read over the mission details. He was simply going to gloss over everything and find the information he needed. Was it a wise decision to go into a fight blind and to experience the feeling of the unknown? No. But did he care? No, he didn't in the slightest. He had an honor codex which he never broke. He stood close to the rules of his life and never broke them no matter the consequences. In his honor codex, cheating wasn't allowed under any circumstances. He had considered learning more about an opponent to be cheating in his fight.
To his display, she looked to be in her mid-20s. She had black wavy hair that extended past her shoulders and almost to her chest. Her eyes had a sort of annoying look to them but at the same time a sharp green.
He hadn't known her for very long. At most maybe a day or two. But he believed her name to be Hannah. From what he could understand she was his father's secretary. Although it was only a guess, he wasn't positive if she was his father's secretary.
Alistair's father, Arthur, was a secretive man but even more so when it came to his work at the United Front. He never talked or elaborated on his work at the United Front, not even to his son.
For what reason, Alistair didn't know. And to be honest, he could care less about his father and his work. To him his father meant nothing.
Their relationship was nothing but an exchange of mutual agreement. Alistair has a roof over his head, while Arthur kept the image of the family name.
He stared into the vacancy of the lounge room. He couldn't help but feel the awkwardness of the room. "Thanks...Ah? Hannah, right?" He mumbled, in an attempt to solve the awkwardness between them.
He watched as she rolled her eyes and blatantly ignored his advancement to get to know each other. It seemed as though Hannah didn't like him and purposely made an effort to get him upset.
However, Alistair wasn't the type of person to physically show himself get upset or angry over something like this. After all, he had to learn how to deal with his father's neglectful behavior.
She eventually stopped ignoring him and answered his question, "Yes, but it's Miss Hannah."
He showed her a friendly smile, in an attempt to hopefully become at least on friendly terms. "Oh, okay. Well, I'm Alistair. You must be Father's new secretary. If I'm guessing correctly. Hope so, or that'll be awkward, hahaha." He again mumbled with an awkward laugh towards the end.
She took a long sigh. Maybe it was because she didn't want to talk with him but who knew. "Yes." She shortly replied. "Excuse me, but I'll be leaving." She quickly responded before he had the chance to respond.
He watched her abrupt exit. 'Wow...that was sudden' He thought to himself. Her behavior most definitely gave him the impression that she didn't want anything to do with him and despised him for whatever reason.
"How strange?" He blurted out of confusion. He was certain this was the first time they had ever met. How was it possible for her to hate him? Maybe she had a bad impression of him from his father? Or maybe she heard some rumor about him?
He turned his focus on the envelope in hand. The envelope looked to be interesting in its glaze. Most mission details were handed out in a bright golden envelope that almost looked like gold itself. But this envelope was painted a deep black. So much so that'll be completely invisible in the dark.
He hesitantly opened the envelope to at least learn of the location. Once his eyes laid upon the location, he knew why the report was encased in a special off-branded envelope. It was because of how sensitive the mission was. He didn't read much, only the location but he instantly knew how important of a mission it was.
The location was Valley-Lake Aeria, a sacred and holy forest that was protected by the God Aeria and was the final resting place of their physical body before ascending to the Heavens. It was said that they were known to be a protector of good and destroyers of evil. It would be impossible for anything evil and corrupt to enter the forest without being destroyed by the immense magic surrounding and residing inside the forest.
"Valley-Lake Aeri, huh? It has to be fake." He mumbled to himself. It didn't make any sense as to why a holy sacred forest would be defied by evil. It all seemed too fake for Alistair.
"Whatever the case may be, It's still a mission." He said to himself in a deflating sigh. He might as well make the best of the situation and prove with worth within the Union.
He stormed back to his room, rather in a hurry. He knew to start packing as soon as possible.
If there is truly evil residing within the forest, it could be dangerous for any holy creature inside. Which means lives were at stake. He couldn't afford to waste any time.
-------------------------------------------------Hannah (Val) POV-
Her behavior acted in part of her lie. She wasn't Hannah; she had made everyone believe who she was. Hannah was nothing but a false identity she had stolen. She was nothing but a mere imposter pretending to be the original. But her pretending didn't do any justice as her real personality showed through her act.
Her feet slowly carried her back, with her watching every movement she made to be sure that no one followed her back. She was sure to go to the place that no one even dared to approach. Or even where cameras would be at the corner inside the backstair case. It was a quiet, empty place, where no absolutely no went in. It would allow the perfect opportunity for her to report back to her partner.
She is a spy for a newly formed organization whose sole purpose was to oppose the Union. Although, truthfully it was hardly an ant for the Union. Currently, the organization only had two people, and that included "Hannah" herself. Although they lacked in members, there was no doubt that they made a powerful team.
She took one last good glance back before finally entering her destination. She leaned against the far side of the corner where everything was in her view. With a few deep and long sighs she reached inside her coat pocket, feeling for her paper talisman. Red marked talisman acted like a phone or a weapon of communication with her partner. She held out the talisman with a chant of words, activating the magic from within.
"Another news?" The immediate voice responded through the other side once the talisman was activated.
"Nothing much, well, besides a few annoying pests...I need a smoke. I'm sick and tired of planning a good little secretary. I want some action. I need action." She spoke rather annoyed than out of desperation for the need for something interesting. From her point of view, everything seemed slow and most definitely pointless. The only thing keeping her from leaving was the fact that she wouldn't be able to achieve her goals.
"Hahaha, don't get discouraged, Val!" The voice sounded nervous but was quick to encourage her to fight through and finish her mission of spying all the way through.
"And can we speak on the fact that you had me become a crusty dirty smelly musty man's secretary? You know I would have preferred it more if it was a pretty lady. I can't stand males." Val bluntly commented, with a voice of disgust and anger over the fact.
Val's partner quickly spoke up and was fairly fast to apologize, "I'm sorry, Val. But it is necessary. Sir, Arthur seems to be the only weak link we have to the Union...Ah, anyways, please keep doing your best! I know you'll succeed!" She again encouraged Val to keep doing her best as she knew that Val would succeed in the end. She had a lot of faith and trust when it comes to her partners. To her, having trust and faith in your partner is a valuable asset that can prove to be beneficial.
Val's eyes light up, and a tingling sensation of happiness overcomes her with the sudden encouragement to continue. "Okay, I'll continue to do my best! And so will you, Aurora!"
"Right! It's a promise!"
